Many residents across southern England were treated to quite a spectacular natural light show overnight. Dramatic summer thunderstorms swept through the region, bringing intense flashes of lightning that lit up the night skies beautifully.

While the dramatic displays made for a wonderful sight for those watching from their windows, the storms also brought a sudden end to the recent humid spell, accompanied by heavy downpours and loud rumbles of thunder in several areas.
