PULL UP YOUR SOCKS!
Following sell-out shows in 2014 and '15, Optik return to South West London this October further reviving the vibrant writing of Gertrude E. Jennings (b.1877).
Actively engaged in the professional London theatre scene from the early 20th century, writing for the Actresses' Franchise League and touring as a writer and performer during the First World War, it's shocking perhaps that Jennings' work has sadly been lost in time- that is until now!
A cast of 7 bring to life 3 hilarious comedies: Allotments (1918), In The Fog (1917) and The Rest Cure (1914), all with Jennings' trademark wit and commentary on social systems, classes and relationships, plus a hearty dose of female empowerment- all alarming relevant to today.
Performances 18-21 Oct, 7.30pm, Ss Philip & James Church Whitton TW2 7DY.
