Ga and Dangme Books currently for sale.

The intention was to set up a shop but most of the books went before I even had a chance to put them online. Other than Korle meets the sea and learn Ga with me, I only have one or 2 copies of the other books. So it will be a first come first serve. If you would like any of these books please send a message to my inbox. See you soon!

Funny how science is talking about the air trees produce and now turning to trees to deal with the issue of concrete jungles, and yet my grandma who hasn’t been to school, already knew all of this? Our elders are blessings

Today is Mothers Day in the UK.
I wanted to take this opportunity to thank the woman who gave me life. Whose shoulders I cry on when things get tough. The way this woman has suffered for me KWE.

Happy Mothers Day Mummy

Today I’m going to be extra straight with you all. Men and women’s fertility has gone down the toilet. Our general health is going down the pan. Our ancestors in their wisdom created a system where men and women would spend several years being taught about their bodies, having stable family life and how to contribute to society. This was our puberty rites.

Colonisers came and we listened to them and to this day many people have little respect for the rites and it’s becoming stagnant, just symbolism. The boys rites have disappeared!

These rites were created to provide important education to the young people during this important tradition. Could we not use this understanding to teach young girls and boys about who they are?
Their bodies? Be taught by the elders of their community who can guide them as they get older? Now look at what’s happening? How may of us are sitting here with fibroids, endometriosis and PCOS? Do you know that May of these diseases showed signs many years before you went to the doctors? Imagine a puberty rite with this education? Wouldn’t things be different? Do you now understand why our ancestors instituted it? Now why don’t we build on this premise instead of denigrating it?

Wishing all those doing their rites next month a happy puberty rite season. Let’s look at our rites with the lens in which they were created and develop them as our ancestors did.

Happy Ghana Independence Day!
Here is a video celebrating some of the GaDangme contributions to Independence Day.

Personally I’m tired of hearing narratives that seem to imply that half of Ghana was sleeping when the colonial goats arrived in Ghana and it’s not true. Ghana is filled with ethnic groups that fought, sacrificed and died for the Ghana we have today including GaDangme.

Happy Independence Day family
