🚨 OPEN CALL: KORO LAB 🚨

We’re incredibly excited to launch Koro Lab, our brand-new artist development programme supporting nine migrant and Global Majority artists working in immersive, interactive and site-specific theatre.

If you’re dreaming up bold, interactive theatre and want space, support and seed funding to test it - this is for you.

What’s on offer (April-October 2026):

📍Space: One week of free rehearsal space at Shoreditch Town Hall, Theatre Deli or Wellcome Collection
📍Seed funding: A £2,500 bursary (plus an additional £500 for the Wellcome Collection commission to support collections research)
📍Training: Two days of workshops exploring immersive and site-specific practice, game-making, co-creation, digital experiences and embedding accessibility
📍Documentation: Professional filming and photography
📍Access consultancy: Support from an access advisor
📍Showcasing opportunities: Sharings in September 2026
📍Production mentoring: Development, fundraising and touring support

Selected artists will also feed directly into Koro Festival 2027, our new biennial showcase of inclusive immersive theatre across London, with opportunities for full commissions.

Four types of bursaries:

📍Open Spaces: Socially engaged immersive performance, in partnership with Shoreditch Town Hall
📍Site-Specific: New interactive work for unexpected locations, in partnership with Theatre Deli London
📍Marketplace: Migrant-led immersive performances in public spaces, presented at Leadenhall Market
📍Wellcome Collection: New pieces exploring health equity through research in Wellcome Collection archives

Come and work with us!

Koro is looking for a freelance producer to support Koro Lab, our new artist development programme for migrant and Global Majority immersive theatre-makers.

You’ll be working closely with artists and venues to support recruitment, rehearsals, R&D and public sharings across London - including Shoreditch Town Hall, Wellcome Collection and Leadenhall Market.

We’re looking for someone organised, supportive and excited about immersive, interactive and site-specific theatre. This is a new role in a growing organisation, with potential for future work as Koro develops.

Exciting news! After its sold out run at Shoreditch Town Hall and Brighton Festival, 1884 will be back in October-November 2025!

Created by Rhianna Ilube and Coney and produced by Koro, 1884 is an immersive game-theatre show inspired by the legacy of the 1884 Berlin Conference, an often-overlooked historical turning point for the African continent and the world.

‘Fun, clever and beautifully crafted, this interactive show is a biting satire on the Scramble for Africa’ Time Out

1884 will tour to Wellcome Collection (London), Warwick Arts Centre (Coventry), in a heritage venue as part of Norwich Theatre Beyond programme (Norwich), Manchester (venue to be announced in June) and at MIR Festival in Athens!
