adrian utley has spent thirty years doing things by his own book.

The guitarist and producer at the heart of seminal trip hop outfit Portishead, he decided early in his career to stop playing like anyone else, and has stuck to it. A truly singular talent that played his role redefining what contemporary pop music could be.

Away from Portishead, his reach is hard to pin down. He's produced records for Perfume Genius, Marianne Faithfull and Jeff Beck. He performed with Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers. He conducted Terry Riley's In C with 19 guitars. He collaborated with Aphex Twin in Poland. He scored a silent film with a 23-piece orchestra. He plays oud, banjo, lap steel, baroque guitar, and has a particular thing for vintage synthesizers.

And now, on 26th September, he joins Mariusz Szypura's Chopin Residue ensemble at Cadogan Hall.

There are still a few tickets available at polishjazzfestival.com.

Still reminiscing over a stunning opening weekend for the Polish Jazz Festival.

In only our second year, we are already selling out some of London's most revered venues – it's a real joy to watch this festival grow.

It was a weekend of pinch-me moments, with the brightest of the Polish scene gracing our stages. And we do it all again this week, starting with a performance of Mariusz Szypura's groundbreaking Chopin Residue on Saturday.

Last few tickets at polishjazzfestival.com.

So, what is Chopin Residue?

What remains when you strip the piano out of a Chopin prelude? Not a reworking, not a cover – a complete reimagining of what's left.

Warsaw-based guitarist and producer Mariusz Szypura spent years working with that idea, building original compositions from the harmonic shadow the piano leaves behind. The result is a truly singular 18-track double album featuring 25 trailblazing collaborators.

On 26th September, Szypura brings the live ensemble to Cadogan Hall, where he'll be joined by adrian utley of Portishead, John Stanier of Battles, Sean O'Hagan of The High Llamas, Charlie Draper and Władysław Noise.

And if that weren't already enough, the special guest is Leszek Możdżer. One of Europe's most celebrated pianists, his own sold-out Polish Jazz Festival show later that same evening has been one of the most anticipated tickets of the festival.

Tickets are available at polishjazzfestival.com.

Gdy Londyn wzywa, Kapela przybywa.
Do kolejnego spotkania!

What an incredible run of shows to open the Polish Jazz Festival 2026.

Wojtek Mazolewski and Anna Maria Jopek at the Opening Gala to Kayah and Urszula Dudziak yesterday, each and every performance was sublime. Cadogan Hall really did become a shrine to all things Polish Jazz, and tonight, we do it again.

This evening, we're bringing a Warsaw Jazz Takeover to Union Chapel UK. Doors at 6pm and there are still a limited number of tickets remaining.
