Taking a moment to soak in all that the encouraged and challenged within me. It was a privilege to contribute.
I spent much of the conference being reminded the role beauty, creativity and storytelling can play in cultural renewal.
After seeing the signs of modern day slavery by my home in London I felt anger at the injustice so clearly ‘hidden in plain sight.’ I felt called to act. As an opera singer, I wanted to use my skills as a story teller to create an opera, that showed the horror and the hope, of the world of women and girls trapped in s*x-trafficking. So began the journey of producing an opera, ’Slave.’
‘Do not be a silent witness, be a vocal champion.’
- These words have encouraged and strengthened me.
