Ramzan (Ramadan) is a sacred month in Islam, which is considered the most revered and blessed month by Allah. The virtues (fazeelat) and significance of this month are explained in many ways. Some of the key virtues include:
1. **Revelation of the Qur'an**: The Qur'an was revealed during the month of Ramadan. Allah made this month a time for His guidance and worship. In Surah Al-Baqarah, Allah refers to it as "shahr al-Qur'an" (the month of the Qur'an).
2. **Fasting (Roza)**: Fasting, which is obligatory in Ramadan, is an act of worship where a person refrains from eating, drinking, and avoiding sins. It is a practice that increases patience, piety, and brings a person closer to Allah.
3. **Lailat-ul-Qadr (The Night of Decree)**: During the last ten days of Ramadan, there is a night known as Lailat-ul-Qadr, which is considered to be better than a thousand months. The rewards for worship and prayer on this night are immense, and prayers made on this night are accepted by Allah.
4. **Forgiveness and Mercy**: Ramadan is a time when Allah bestows His forgiveness and mercy upon His servants. The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said, "In Ramadan, Allah opens the doors of mercy and closes the doors of Hell."
5. **Zakat and Charity**: Ramadan encourages giving more in charity. Zakat is obligatory, but sadaqah (voluntary charity) also brings great reward during this month. By helping the poor, a person can purify their soul and earn Allah's pleasure.
6. **Reflection and Worship**: Ramadan offers an excellent opportunity to seek forgiveness for past sins and purify one's heart. During Lailat-ul-Qadr, reciting the Qur'an, remembering Allah (dhikr), and making supplications are especially rewarded.
7. **Mercy of Paradise**: Ramadan is the time when Allah promises His servants the mercy of paradise. The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said, "Whoever fasts in Ramadan with faith and sincerity, all their past sins will be forgiven."
Ramadan is a precious opportunity to improve one's spiritual life, draw closer to Allah, and enhance one’s deeds and worship.
