Evening all, and I hope you've all had an amazing weekend! A few people have been asking what to expect from the House Music Radio takeover of the basement (big love to Jaydee Muzic for helping this collaboration happen!) so I thought I'd do a quick introduction of our DJs.
Firing things up will be Steve Thornton, someone who has been an SOAB regular for many years and we welcome him back for his 2nd set for us. Steve is one of those djs you'd call a "selector" and I'm regularly Shazaming his radio shows for the gems he's unearthed! The basement is going to go deep and dark as always befits that space, and we know he's going to set the tone so well for the rest of the night!
Following on, we'll have a B2B from Bibby ( Jo Ridley) and Topfella ( Terry Timson). This pair love to play together and they just bounce off each other throughout their sets. I have a feeling we may be in for some Rave House for their hour, that basement is going to be bouncing! One not to be missed!
Another B2B set comes next, with Smithy and Bigchief doing the business! I love this pair, they're absolutely bonkers but in absolutely the best way! Always playing the tougher darker beats (both have played for Labyrinth), but I know one of them will throw a curveball or two in for good measure! Expect the unexpected, but also expect to lose yourself in the music!
I'll be taking things over from there, playing exactly the kind of set you know I love to play in the basement! Dark to euphoric, punchy powerful baselines - I can't wait to play for you all again!
Our final DJ in the basement will be Martin Dear, who finally seems to be getting the recognition he deserves for the talent he has. Martin's forte is playing exactly what a basement closing set should be all about! Another who's played several sets for Labyrinth (amongst many other events) and now is a resident for Hysteria - A Compulsion To Dance, I fully expect Martin to blow the roof off that basement (👋🏻 hello Lounge Bar 😂).
So to summarise, expect acid, expect rave, expect melodic techno and deep house, expect techno and trance - and expect to find that incredible basement atmosphere we always seem to create down there!
