Just back from New York after the auction of film posters at Bonhams - the Ira Resnick Collection sold extremely well, realising a total of nearly $600,000. The star lot was the rare one-sheet poster for the Rudolph Valentino classic 'The Son of The Sheik' (1926) which more that doubled its high estimate selling for $75,000. The never before seen one-sheet for Charlie Chaplin's short film 'By The Sea' (1915) sold for $37,500 and the glorious 'Gold Diggers of 1933' (1933) sold for $23,750. Many other poster performed well, and the pre-sale private view was packed. Below photos of us with Ira Resnick and Joe Burtis who runs Ira's gallery MPA in New York, and Sarah with a personal favourite, the three-sheet for Bette Davis's 'Dark Victory', which sold for $8,750, sadly not coming home with her.

Carey and I attended the farewell bash for Christie's South Kensington on 19th July at the Kensington Hotel - the last auction took place that afternoon and now, very sadly, CSK has closed its doors for good. We had many happy years there, handled some truly memorable auctions, including two dedicted James Bond sales, Eric Clapton's guitars, and Shirley Bassey's Glittering Gowns, amongst many other unique and fascinating items, Stormtrooper helmets and Audrey Hepburn's dress from Breakfast At Tiffany's spring to mind, and forged friendships with some highly talented colleagues.
