Have you heard about the curse that's haunted one Irish county for 75 years?

After Mayo won the All-Ireland championship in 1951, they passed a funeral in Foxford without stopping to pay respects. An enraged priest cursed them to never win another championship while any team member was still alive.

Mayo went on to lose 11 consecutive All-Ireland finals between 1989 and 2021, until the last surviving member of the 1951 team, Paddy Prentegast, passed away in late 2021.

So, is the curse finally broken?

Ireland's a small place, and word gets around. In tight-knit communities, everyone knows everyone, and stories like this become part of the fabric of local lore.
