Some films have magic in them before a single frame is shot. 🐰🖤

In a new exclusive interview with PEOPLE this week, Drew Barrymore reflects on making Donnie Darko—and recognising something special from her very first read of the script. She was shocked that Richard Kelly hadn’t yet been given the chance to direct it himself, believing his full vision deserved to reach the screen.

That early faith says so much about the film we still love 25 years later. Strange, beautiful, fearless—and still bringing people together.

Read Drew’s full interview, and check out the insightful interviews with Jena Malone and Mary McDonnell too. Three voices from the film, reflecting on a world that continues to mean so much to us.
