Join us this Sunday 21 June at Keats House Gardens for the opening event of the Hampstead Summer Festival!

The wait is over – the Hampstead Summer Festival 2026 begins this weekend, and we're thrilled to announce that Sir Michael Palin will officially open the Festival at our first event, the Art Fair at Keats House.

🕐 Festival Opening: 1:00pm
📍 Keats House Gardens
Keats Grove, Hampstead, London NW3 2RR

Join us for a wonderful afternoon celebrating local creativity, featuring:

🎨 Art, ceramics and sculpture from local artists and students of Hampstead School of Art
🛍️ Craft stalls
🍷 Food and refreshments
🎈 Children's activities, including decorating their own bags
🏆 Sir Michael Palin will also choose a prize-winning artwork from the exhibition

The Art Fair marks the start of a fantastic programme of events, leading up to the spectacular Big Fair on the Heath on 5th July.

Sir Michael Palin to Open Hampstead Summer Festival 2026!

The organisers of the Hampstead Summer Festival are delighted to announce that Sir Michael Palin will officially open this year’s Festival at the opening event, the Art Fair in the Gardens of Keats House, Keats Community Library, on Saturday 21 June at 1pm.

Sir Michael will cut the ceremonial ribbon before touring the Fair and selecting a prize-winning piece from the collection of paintings, ceramics and sculptures on display.

The Art Fair will showcase work for sale by talented local artists and students from the Hampstead School of Art, alongside craft stalls, food and wine stands, and family-friendly activities. Children attending the event will also have the opportunity to decorate their own bags at a special activity table.

Entry to the Art Fair is free.

Els Bauer, Chair of the Festival Committee, said:
“We are delighted that Sir Michael is coming to open the Fair for us. He is a Patron of Keats Community Library, one of our beneficiary charities. We feel very lucky to have such a loved and admired person living here - he is so generous with his time in supporting charities and community events.”

Sir Michael Palin, one of Britain’s most beloved writers, broadcasters and performers, has long been associated with the Hampstead community and remains a passionate supporter of local cultural and charitable initiatives.

Exhibit your artworks including ‘En Plein Air’ Painting and Drawing Inspired by Hampstead Heath and the surrounding area.

Picture the Heath is an annual drawing and painting exhibition which celebrates the Heath and its surrounding area.
Organised by .School.of.Art, it is part of Hampstead Summer Festival Artworks will be exhibited and judged during Hampstead Summer Festival’s Art Fair Day in Keats House Garden on Sunday 21st June 2026.

Registration is now open!

£20 entry fee (+ £2.15 booking fee) or call Hampstead School of Art on 0207 794 1439 for further information.

Please register ASAP as numbers are limited.

All artworks to be delivered by Monday 15th June 2026 to: Hampstead School of Art.
