Into the Space: all about playing. Currently a weekly pre-school group. Interactive Stories & Performances: e.g. for Hastings Storytelling Festival

Theatre-making & creative workshops. Performing Arts in schools & colleges: curriculum or exam focussed; bespoke projects; or a specialist area: masks, clowning, ensemble storytelling, devising and scripting original plays. The Albatross of feathered metal: Iron Maiden meets Coleridge meets glam. This puppet was envisaged and painstakingly made by two members of the White Rock Youth Theatre White Rock Theatre Youth and Community Arts Programme for the show case last night: Rime of the Ancient Mariner - what a magnificent energised, visceral performance! And, I love the character this bird became: a slain superstar that seemed to rise again from the ocean depths!

Magic beach space for our final play of the summer! Look forward to being back for more play and improvised performance in the autumn! Venue and date will be confirmed in mid September. Into the Space: Into the Salty Space! For the last play of the summer, this Monday, we will be on the beach again in West St Leonards. The last beach session was sandy splashy fun: we ended up singing our performance and bye song in a pool of sea water! No photos taken: too wet, too sandy, too immersed in the space! Next week, 20 July, meet at 10am, on the beach below the Bathing Hut Cafe. Wear clothes/swimmers that can get wet, bring towels and something to wrap up in when the wet gets chilly! Wonderland Story Time at Trinity Theatre with Trinity Creative Engagement this morning. Great to tumble down the rabbit hole with the youngest of storytellers. And, I love it when puppets make appearances in new roles: Gingerbread here was playing his part as the Cheshire Cat; and a repurposed wolf hat became the Mad Hatter's. Inevitably - as happens with the youngest of players - there were some spontaneous changes to the known story; quite perfect for a Wonderland: the tea table floated in the air (children always prefer to be under the table); and the white rabbit was joined by about twenty hopping others. Next week is the last of the summer before returning in September.

We had a great meandering play last Monday - before the heat hit - with every action from mixing to monsters to navigating a maze of ladders and logs. Imaginations and legs were frenetic! By popular consensus we'll be returning to the park for our next Into the Space (a fresher & cooler Space!): Monday 29 June, 10-11am. Same spot in Alexandra Park. You're welcome to drop along. Exploring the myths, poetry and creatures of the seas... is an oceanic task! With the White Rock Youth Theatre White Rock Theatre Youth and Community Arts Programme we're running with fantastical visions, legendary storms and bringing them to life through a sensory sea of movement, music, puppets and masks. It's an epic voyage of exploration! Watch this space for pictures as we shapeshift junk into fearsome monsters, inviting sirens and a very happy crab.
