We are thrilled to welcome Giovanni Re as Leader of the Brioso Brass Quintet! 🎺
Born in Palermo, Sicily, Giovanni Re has studied trumpet at the “V. Bellini” Conservatory before being selected in 2002 for the prestigious La Scala Opera House Music Academy in Milan. There, he trained alongside leading principal trumpet players and performed with the Youth Orchestra, marking the beginning of an exceptional career.
Since 2003, he has performed in some of Italy's most iconic venues, including La Scala Opera House, the Arena di Verona, the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, and the Teatro Massimo in Palermo.
In 2008, Giovanni moved to London to further expand his international career, collaborating with outstanding musicians and performing under world-renowned conductors such as Riccardo Muti and Roberto Abbado. His artistic path has also taken him to the United States, where he immersed himself in the American trumpet tradition alongside leading performers and educators.
Today, Giovanni is an accomplished freelance orchestral player and soloist across the UK and Europe. He has held Principal and Guest roles with numerous orchestras, including the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana and the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, and regularly performs with prestigious ensembles such as the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales.
