Behind the score | Six Lethargies
For composer Keaton Henson, Six Lethargies began as a deeply personal project, exploring the complexities of his emotion through an orchestral score that gave expression to his own experiences.
Without formal training in musical notation, Keaton developed an unconventional approach to composition, beginning with drawings, shapes and patterns that represented different emotional states.
Over three years, more than 100 musical ideas were developed, eventually becoming six movements for string orchestra.
This November, BalletBoyz reimagines Keaton’s score through movement in one of the company’s most ambitious productions to date, bringing together 44 dancers and 36 musicians on the Sadler’s Wells stage for a performance of extraordinary scale.
