Focus & Chaliwate's world-wide hit DIMANCHE comes to
Sadler's Wells' Peacock Theatre
4 performances only
Wed 29 Jan - Sat 1 Feb
"Gorgeously realised” New York Times Critics Pick
Sometime in the near future humanity has failed to adapt to the new ecological reality of climate change. Amidst the chaos, a family attempts to maintain a normal lifestyle and enjoy its traditional Sunday gathering, hilariously turning a blind eye to the mayhem that surrounds them as strong winds and torrential rain rage outside.
Meanwhile, somewhere above the Arctic Circle three travelling wildlife reporters are doing their best to document the apocalypse. With what little equipment they have they seek to film Earth’s last living species: three wild animals on the brink of extinction.
Using lo-fi special effects, puppetry, miniature vehicles and video Dimanche paints a witty and tender portrait of human ingenuity and stubbornness when faced with the uncontrollable forces of nature.
“As a piece of stagecraft, Dimanche is formidably done. It is not only the variety of techniques, ranging from the manipulation of miniature figures to mime and large-scale puppetry (cute polar bear alert). It is also the astonishing speed with which one scene dissolves into the next… The inventiveness is constant”

Compagnie 111 curtain call
"Over the years every January LIMF has encouraged us to try something different and helped shift our idea of what theatre is by exposing us to sometimes strange and often wonderful if discombobulating performances from Europe and far beyond"
Lyn Gardner, Stagedoor Jan 2022
Enormous thanks to our festival artists, production staff, audiences, venue partners and funders - to everyone who helped to ensure that LIMF’22 took place and safely reach its conclusion on February 6th.
Over 26 days our critically acclaimed programme featured some 70 live performances, plus workshops and online film screenings. Banishing January blues and pandemic gloom our adventurous audiences turned out in huge numbers, with just one performance night lost to Covid. It has been simply wonderful to see and feel the pleasure and enthusiasm with which the festival’s return in live form has been met.
LIMF’23 is already taking shape, when we hope to return to our traditional balance of international and UK work. Do visit this page for regular updates and news.
We look forward to welcoming you again next January and leave you with the curtain call of Compagnie 111's beautiful show aSH, a piece by Aurélien Bory for Shantala Shivalingappa, with live percussion by Loïc Schild, which filled the Barbican Theatre from Wed 26 - Sat 29 January.
Take good care.
