Our core mission for ‘How Q***rness Moves’ is not only exploring how q***rness can destabilize heteronormative movement practices but also supporting Q***r movement artists by sharing our resources in an effort to create opportunities beyond hierarchal dance institutions.

Aligned with this ethos, we are introducing HQM’s Open Space Exchange where we share our residency’s studio with artists who wish to explore q***rness in their dance/movement practices.

During HQM’s Open Space Exchange we are offering our studio for free.

Q***r dance/movement artists are invited to book one 3 hour time slot from 9am - 12pm, 12pm -3pm & 3pm - 6pm on October 23rd or October 30th.

We welcome Q***r movement artists to use our space for rehearsal, movement exploration and practice as research.

In exchange for the free studio space, we ask that artists are available for a short conversation that reflects on their experience and complete a brief survey to provide feedback for us.

Our hope is to listen and better understand how we can shape and share our resources with greater impact based on what the community needs.

To signup for HQM’s Open Space Exchange send us an email at [email protected] with how you will use the space and the names of your collaborators.

The signup deadline to reserve space on Saturday October 23rd is Tuesday the 19th and Saturday the 30th is Friday the 22nd!

Thank you!

Join us for our open dance classes during the 'How Q***rness Moves's (HQM) residency October 20 - November 3rd.

HQM open classes endeavor to provide a space for dancers to experiment beyond the constraints of institutions and heteronormative ideals by exploring how the body can move q***rly in a radically supportive environment.

Each week a different collaborator from the HQM project will lead the open classes to highlight the range of possibilities for q***ring movement and create space for diverse sensibilities and ways of being.

I am happy to share the continuation of my project ‘How Q***rness Moves’ (HQM) at from October 18th to November 6th!

HQM is a research and development residency that endeavors to explore and expand q***ring movement beyond the constraints of institutional structures and heteronormative ideals. With my collaborators we are seeking to challenge the exclusionary physical traditions of dance and ballet (institutions), utilizing a q***r lens, as a tool to illuminate the horizons of its potentiality.

Our work aims to not only disrupt problematic patterns in dance through q***ring movement but, also, cultivate the growth of a q***r collective eco-system which shares current knowledge and amplifies q***r voices of the future. With this open, expansive and inclusive mandate HQM is striving to create opportunities for collaboration beyond its core activity of choreographic exploration of q***ring movement during our upcoming residency.

More to come on how you can join us for our all level open classes and HQM Mutual aid and Network Sessions!

During the past year I have been imaging and developing the project ‘How Q***rness Moves’ as a collaborative programme of activity where artists and dancers could explore how the body can move q***rly; if it isn’t policing itself from within the boundaries of institutions.

At first this project ‘How Q***rness Moves’ was a way of disrupting the traditions of ballet to challenge the heteronormative and patriarchal structures that are embedded within its institutions.

Yet, as my relationship to q***rness has expanded and transformed I am endeavoring to not only disrupt but, also, explore, investigate, and expand movement using q***rness as the guiding methodology. I hope to share this journey with you as we embark on a three week residency Performance Studios to explore ‘How Q***rness Moves.’
