We’re always more interested in where techno is going than where it’s been. That was the mindset behind Solar Vol. 2.

We pushed the sound design, movement and atmosphere as far as we could, looking for sounds that felt fresh and a little unfamiliar.

Really happy with where it landed.

It just sounds beautiful - wide, deep and full of movement. Every time I sit down with it, I seem to find a different side of it.

Definitely one of my favourites in the studio.

I’ve found a new little studio hack 😃

The SS-6 lets me send the same MIDI performance to four different poly synths and switch between them to audition each one.

But the really clever bit is the THRU output — I can send a copy of the mix to a pedal, run it 100% wet, and record that separately through the mixer.

Such a simple little box, but ridiculously useful when you’re running out of inputs on your interface! 🔥

Every time I switch on the Dreadbox ARTEMIS, I seem to rediscover a completely new sound palette. 🎛️

It’s one of those synths that keeps pulling you in different directions - sometimes warm and melodic, sometimes strange, raw and completely unexpected.

The new v1.2 update makes it even more fun to explore. The expanded modulation system opens up a lot more possibilities, while the new BBD Resonator and BBD Playground effects can take a simple patch somewhere completely different. The updated reverbs sound beautiful too.

Really enjoying where Dreadbox are taking this synth. 🖤
