One shot of many we produced for a development in Wimbledon for an enterprising local developer. We found ourselves liaising with the developer and the architect which helped ensure the project ideals were met visually for both parties.

Having the ability to sit in the middle can take the workload off one or another party, furthermore, ingrain us into the project where we normally can have a different perspective.

Rather than just producing the output, we are pretty good at having an input too.

How do you make your development stand out from the crowd?

Not every house is high end, we need houses for everyone. However, everyone certainly deserves a little luxury and comfort in their own home.

We've always had the aim to make our work look the absolute best it can be, no matter what the project is. These images below are proof that a 'stock style UK development' can look gorgeous (darling!) inside.

The old Post office on 138 Stoke Newington High street is a project we produced images for which is currently in planning with Hackney council.

The project will provide 7 high-quality residential dwellings, with commercial space retained and improved at the ground floor level.

We have worked with our client, who in turn has worked closely with the council for over a year on creating the best possible development on the site which respects the conservation area and improves the public realm. We are very excited about this ongoing project which should be completed in Autumn 2022.

Marketing material should persuade our prospects and inform them that we have something valuable to offer them - right?

It should then motivate them to purchase that product or service.

You can do this by putting your materials through our helpful five-point test:

1. Are you defining the nature of your product and/or service and citing all the features that would be of interest to the prospective consumer?

2. Have you positioned your product and/or service to define clearly why you are different from your competitor? Have you touched on the pain points that your product and/or service eases? Why do they need you?

3. Did you write your marketing material with your target audience in mind? Do not write your collateral without doing a demographic study of your prospects.

4. Is your collateral easy to understand? Does it flow smoothly and rapidly without causing confusion? Does it contain a friendly and extroverted tone? Is it uncluttered, persuasive and involving?

5. Can your sales team distribute the material and know that it will pique the interest of your prospect or will it lose them in the egotistical paragraphs regarding your company's status and brand rather than the benefits that you have to offer them?

First impressions are everything and everyone wants to make a good first impression. But how confident are you going into planning applications that what you’re presenting won’t be initially misunderstood or seen as lacking by the planning officers?

We know there's the temptation to go to planning without everything absolutely perfect because you’re anticipating changes anyway, but in our experience the risk is too high if you’re not at least presenting something upfront that comes across as very polished. With planning councils overloaded around the country, a poor first impression could lead to long, unnecessary delays.

We’ve read enough Design Access Statements to know there is so much passion and detail that goes into projects, and the goal of the planning process is to convey all that internal knowledge from you and your team to the council so they can see what you see. However, all of this can’t be expressed quickly upfront. This is where being able to rely on visual content which, at a glance, is able to help convey the major talking points, is so valuable as a first impression.

Let’s face it, most of us don’t want to be slobbering around in unwashed tatty old clothes - well, certainly not on the outside!

So when it comes to your business, shouldn’t that be the same?

If you do care about your image and care about your product then you need to make sure your business invests adequately in this area too. This investment ensures potential clients and stakeholders pay more attention to you and your company as a well-managed image outwardly breeds confidence.

When presenting your latest CAD drawings, how many times has a client completely misjudged the scale of a build because they can’t visualise how it would appear in real life?

Even armed with a scale ruler, most people will have a hard time understanding plans and elevations. The effect is compounded with generic stock CAD blocks that often misrepresent the scale of some design elements. So, what are your options?

At the very least, ensure your client can internalise the shape and size of the project. Do they really understand what 5m looks like? How about 10m or 20m? Make sure the drawings are at a scale they can work with.

Show context as much as you can, so everything can be compared. Neighbouring properties, landmarks or interior details can be seen as known quantities so can be easily used for comparison.
The ultimate solution is a visual content package that will answer all the problems faced with demonstrating the scale and relationship of design elements in an easy-to-understand way.
