About Us

Carpenters Workshop Gallery transcends classical borders in terms of art and design.

Its proposal stands just at the intersection of these two universes: reaching precisely a symbiosis of art and design. Carpenters Workshop Gallery produces and exhibits functional sculptures by international rising and already established artists and designers going outside their traditional territories of expression. The gallery is actively involved in the research and production of the limited e

dition works exhibited. The choices are guided by the research of an emotional, artistic and historical relevance; a relevance that appears as an evidence. The gallery relies on the partnership of childhood friends, Julien Lombrail and Loic Le Gaillard. They first opened a space in London’s Chelsea in 2006 in a former carpenter’s workshop; they then followed with a second space in Mayfair in 2008. The opening of a 600 square metre space in Paris in 2011 in the heart of Le Marais district, an address steeped in history as it was previously occupied by the Galerie de France for several decades, was a return to their roots.

2015 marks a major turning point for the gallery with the opening of Carpenters Workshop | Roissy, a unique 8,000 meter square space dedicated to artistic research and development, bringing together the elite of artisans, an homage to the French heritage of ‘Arts Décoratifs’. Carpenters Workshop Gallery London at Ladbroke Hall is the latest step in the gallery’s remarkable development. This new space opening in April 2023 confirms the leadership and dominant position of the gallery in today’s international territory of art and design. The artists represented by the gallery are:

Opening Soon | Legenda

Presented for the first time at our Paris gallery, Legenda unveils three new works from Frederik Molenschot’s ongoing City Light series: CL Sable, CL Mer and CL Paradis.

Inspired by the dunes and beaches of the Dutch coastline, where the artist lives and regularly walks, the works reflect Molenschot’s enduring fascination with the environment that surrounds us. Blending function with artistic expression, each piece translates a distinct facet of the landscape into colour, texture and form.

For Molenschot, every work begins with shape, volume and balance. Colour is introduced only once the form is fully resolved, drawn directly from the landscape as a visual language that gives each piece its singular identity. Legenda invites viewers into a world where the coastline is reimagined through material, light and form.

At the heart of Ladbroke Hall, Pollini offers a contemporary interpretation of Italian cuisine, with seasonal dishes served indoors and in the garden, where sculpture and greenery create a distinctive setting throughout the summer.

Alongside the exhibitions, the live programme, supported by the cultural charity The Sunbeam Project, includes theatre, jazz, talks and workshops, inviting new encounters with artists and ideas throughout the season.

A rare surviving fragment of Jean Prouvé’s radical approach to modular architecture, the Grande Structure Nomade Bleue is the largest and most complete section of the Villejuif Nomadic School project. While sections of the Structure Nomade Rouge, which was part of the same development, still exist, the Grande Structure Nomade Bleue remains the most intact and architecturally significant testament to Prouvé’s vision for adaptable, scalable school design.

Designed in 1957 with engineer and architect Serge Ketoff, the structure was one of three modular pavilions conceived to house a temporary school in Villejuif. Guided by simplicity, function and adaptability, Prouvé combined wood and metal with an innovative asymmetrical post system, revolutionising the possibilities of prefabricated architecture.

The result of decades of work developing the most advanced prefabricated models, the Grande Structure Nomade Bleue exemplifies Prouvé’s aesthetic and philosophical breakthroughs, as well as his constructional and technical prowess. This landmark work that captures the designer’s progressive and humanist spirit is currently on view at The Workshop in Mitry-Mory.

Second Nature, currently on view at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre and marking Random International’s Asia debut, brings together pioneering artists working at the intersection of art, technology, and nature, transforming everyday technologies into immersive, poetic environments that explore what we gain and what we lose as the digital becomes second nature.

Presented by Superblue in partnership with the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre, the exhibition unfolds as a multi-sensory journey through immersive installations spanning all four floors of the Art House.

Vincenzo de Cotiis’ works investigate the relationship between reclaimed materials, architecture and design. Crafted from hand-painted fibreglass, the desk and cabinet are defined by monochromatic surfaces, graphic gestures and geometric forms that reflect an architectural approach to making.

The cabinet’s composition of horizontal and vertical planes references the scale and structure of the urban landscape, while the desk retains scratches and surface markings as part of its material history. Rather than concealing these traces, Vincenzo de Cotiis incorporates them into each work, emphasising the continued transformation of reclaimed materials.

The Workshop in Mitry-Mory brings together artists, designers and artisans within a single space dedicated to research, experimentation and production.

From wax modelling and metal casting to woodworking, patination, upholstery and 3D printing, each discipline plays a vital role in the creation of artworks. Housed in a reimagined industrial printing plant just outside Paris, this 8,000 sq. m facility combines traditional craftsmanship with advanced technologies, allowing creative visions to be developed, tested and realised through close collaboration.

Thibault Hazelzet’s Memento Mori Cassanova 2 is included in the ’s 2026 ArtCrush Auction, now open for online bidding.

Activated as a vase through the inclusion of dried flowers, the enamelled ceramic and patinated brass sculpture distills Hazelzet’s multidisciplinary practice and his exploration of what he terms “delicate brutalism.” Oscillating between natural and architectural forms, the work reimagines the floral still life tradition of the Dutch Golden Age as a contemporary memento mori.
