Acrylic on canvas, 80 × 60 cm

This work draws from a Yoruba parable that understands love as foundation. Two figures stand like pillars, building a home from the ground up. Love here is not romanticised—it is structural. It is support, shared labour, and trust. A home rises only when weight is carried together, rooted in a strong foundation of care, commitment, and collective strength.

The Becoming” explores identity, growth, and the journey of becoming your true self.
In this video, I share the inspiration behind the artwork — the colour story, cultural influences, and the healing themes that shaped the piece.
This work sits at the intersection of African contemporary art, generational healing, and Afro-surreal storytelling.

Generational Healing
Acrylic on Canvas, 80 × 60 cm

This piece is a conversation between the past and the present — between the wisdom that carried us and the stories still being written.

The elder figure holds Ila-inspired markings, carved with memory, migration and the strength to see beyond trauma. His glowing halo represents ori — destiny, clarity and the spiritual protection passed down through generations.

The younger figure rests in blue, symbolising the present generation still forming identity, still healing, still learning what to carry and what to release.

Where their hands meet, the message becomes clear:
healing is not done alone — it is held, shared and passed on.

The red background represents sanctuary, lineage and first belonging. Not just struggle, but the emotional inheritance that binds us.

I’ve added a full video speaking about this piece and the story behind it on my blog:

✨ NEW WORK: Generational Healing ✨
Acrylic on Canvas – 80 × 60 cm

This painting holds a story of memory, lineage and the way healing travels through generations.

The elder carries ancestral markings — carved networks of history and migration. His halo symbolises ori (inner head, destiny, and divine protection).
The younger figure rests in blue, representing the present generation still learning, still shaping identity, still healing.

The red background symbolises sanctuary — the first place we belong, the place where love begins before language.

This piece is about how we don’t heal alone… we heal through connection, guidance and inheritance.

I’ve uploaded a full video where I talk through the meaning behind the work.
