We’re pleased to launch Exhibitions in Dialogue, a new conversation series exploring the ideas, technologies and creative processes behind digital exhibitions and immersive cultural experiences.

The first episode revisits Rooms of Our Own: The Lockdown House, a project developed with researchers from the University of Lincoln that transformed lockdown diaries, testimonies, poetry and reflections into a navigable digital house.

In this conversation, Joe Clark, Claire Cutts and Rana Issa discuss digital storytelling, virtual exhibition design, accessibility, cultural memory and how digital environments can create new forms of emotional engagement.

Have you already seen our 3D virtual exhibition, ‘Pretensions to Permanency’ which showcases 5 different portrait-busts of Lord Byron? Did you know that the shooting process required hundreds of photos taken in different locations?
In fact, since the busts were located in five different places and most of all in two different countries, England and Italy, the shooting process took a long time. Also, to create the virtual experience the busts were photographed from different angles in order to produce a 3D effect that allows you to look at them at 360°.

Avete già visto la nostra mostra virtuale in 3D, “Pretese d’immortalità”, che presenta 5 diversi busti-ritratto di Lord Byron? Sapevate che il processo di realizzazione ha richiesto centinaia di foto scattate in luoghi diversi?
Infatti, poiché i busti si trovavano in cinque luoghi diversi e soprattutto in due paesi diversi, l’Inghilterra e l’Italia, il progetto fotografico ha richiesto diverso tempo. Inoltre, per creare l’esperienza virtuale, i busti sono stati fotografati da diverse angolazioni per produrre un effetto 3D che permette di osservarli a 360°.

V21 Artspace collaborated with Hauser & Wirth Paris for their inaugural exhibition by Henry Taylor titled 'FROM SUGAR TO S**T', which was launched in October. We worked together to create a Virtual Exhibition Tour that provided 360º views of the gallery, allowing remote global access. In addition to the option of experiencing the exhibition in person, it is also possible to explore it virtually in a 19th-century neo-classical building located in the 8th arrondissement. The Virtual Exhibition Tour was meticulously captured and produced within five days of arriving at the gallery to document the exhibition, allowing sharing with a base of global collectors.

'Rooms Of Our Own: The Lockdown House' is an AHRC funded collaborative research project led by Professor Lucie Armitt (University of Lincoln), Professor Krista Cowman (University of Leicester) and Professor Sarah Pedersen (Robert Gordon University. 🎓🔬 The online and free to access on all devices, 3D Virtual Exhibition 🖥️, designed and produced by V21 Artspace, showcases women's documented responses to the first lockdown 🏡 from across all 4 devolved nations of the UK 🇬🇧. The exhibition takes the shape of a ‘Suburban House and Garden’ 🏘️ and a ‘City High Rise Flat’ 🏢, with rooms containing clickable items that represent key aspects of women’s experience of lockdown. 📝⁠
