Karma Bread
KARMA BREAD The Friendliest Bakery In London

It was only a couple of days ago as of writing this, that I had just come out of the Royal Free Hospital after visiting my sick grandmother with my sister. We must have been looking rather down as the lovely lady who was currently closing up shop ran up to us and offered us both a bag of pastries and other baked goods. Receiving these confectionery really made mine and my sisters' day, as it forced us to start thinking of everything in a positive light. Once I got home I ended up eating one of the pastries without thinking when I had planned to take photos of them, to put up online. The rest of the freshly baked confectionery was eaten by the rest of our family in a short amount of time, I would have taken some photos however we were all just very mentally exhausted. But I can truly say one thing: the bread was extremely soft and tasty despite being given away for free and the pastries were utterly delicious and mouth watering; so much so that I ended up going back for a second one a few hours later.

Two days later I went back to visit my grandmother in hospital, but before doing so I visited Karma Bread during their opening hours and was delighted to have a long discussion with them. They are obviously used to people being either a tad big upset or just feeling down in general, with them being a 3 minute walking distance from the hospital and on the way to Hampstead Heath station. After talking for a bit I asked them for a rather difficult order, as my grandmother cannot eat gluten or dairy; but even with this they had a confectionery to suit her needs. My grandma had the Almond and orange cake and she rather enjoyed it, especially compared to the food she had been eating in hospital. With that being said I recommend anyone that is heading to the hospital to visit a loved one to pick themself or their loved one up a treat from Karma Bread.

My Third time visiting Karma Bread was about 3 days later. I left the house early so I could grab a sandwich and a coffee from Karma Breads Cafe. The bread in the sandwich seems to have been freshly made with a warm, soft and well leavened texture . Whilst the tuna and cucumber filling was moist and flavorful with a nice crunch. My coffee was a decaf latte that had been prepared with care and high quality ingredients, it was served to me at the perfect temperature for consumption and the barista was able to produce an impressive piece of coffee art.

Once I had my lunch I started drawing the interior of Karma Bread, of which the process took around 3 hours. During the process I enjoyed many pleasant conversations with the patrons and staff. As well as the familiar familia inviting atmosphere, which was produced through a combination of enjoyable music, the inviting aroma of fresh coffee and baked bread and lastly the general temperament and personality of the locals who seems to frequent the bakery. Moreover with Karma Bread being so close to Hampstead Heath it makes it the perfect place to get freshly baked bread for a summer picnic with friends and family.

Also I have to say that the drawing I produced over the 3 hours I spent there was some of my best work I have done in recent months, despite a hand injury of which I doubt I would have been inspired to draw if it weren't for the atmosphere of the cafe. Once my drawing was done my hand was in quite a bit of pain however I left it with the Cafe after taking a photo being satisfied with my work.

I went to the Cafe one last time 4 days later before my Grandmother was left out of hospital. During this visit I wished to sample their hot food and I have to be honest their shakshuka was definitely one of the best you can get in London with a flavorful exquisite taste. Whilst their bread and butter pudding was at the ideal temperature an outstanding creamy taste and a succulent soft feeling paired well flawless latte.

Lastly I must say their positive smiles, kind words of reassurance and customer service truly will make anyone's day and make them feel like part of their family. Moreover the way in which they treat their staff is truly something to be admired as whilst I was there on my 3rd visit I was happy to witness them celebrating the birthday of one of their colleagues. P.s I don’t believe they make a habit of giving out free food, however they definitely bring a lot of good Karma into the world and I hope fate smiles upon them in turn.

The Second Best Hospital in The Galaxy Season 1 an introspective look at mental health.

The new series recently released on amazon prime titled The Second Best Hospital in The Galaxy or as an abbreviation “T2BHITG”. Is an outstanding piece of media with an introspective look at mental health whilst being detached from humanity's social, emotional and political hangups. Despite being human and always seeing things from a homosapien perspective, this series might allow at least for the open minded what a range of mental health might look like from an alien's perspective.

Right from the outset from the first episode we as an audience are asked to suspend our disbelief and subjective view of reality as we are hoodwinked into sympathizing for a human on an alien operating table. Only to see said person unceremoniously killed off with the intention of the doctors to save an alien parasite; similar notions that challenge one's perspective on the value of sentient life appear throughout this episode. The forest example being a lunch time snack consisting of a biologically created intelligent species, which are treated as nothing more than food with their screams being treated as a marketing gimmick for a corporate conglomerate. The second example being that of an ageless ancient hominid ai, created by a long extinct race of forgotten aliens. Her presence constantly acts as a reminder that everyone on screen is but a small speck of dust in an unimaginably infante galaxy.

This first episode of T2BHITG helps to set the mentality one must have whilst watching this thought provoking animated comedy and helps sets the plot going forward which revolves around a potential cure for anxiety. That cure being in the form of a potentially world ending parasite that literally feeds on anxiety whilst nesting in the patient's brain. This idea along with the limitless potential with sci-fi storytelling allows the show to cover numerous topics although be it on a very surface level considering the constraints of a short run time, however that surface is that of an untouched fountain of youth.

Some of the many topics that are discussed are as follows: What it means to be sentient, the interrelation between puberty s*x and the need to procreate before death, family trauma and romantic relationships with relevance to personal boundaries. Personal goals in relation to a working environment and its impact on mental health, the dystopian monopolization of corporations, self worth linked to one's own value system, misplayed idealization and the spread of misinformation through lack of knowledge. The importance of holidays and celebrity events, the importance of understanding your own emotions in connection to your relationships and past; finally the personal impact one can have on the world through perseverance and will.
With all of this you might think I would run out of praise I could give to this show, however be it the character design, the world building or even the voice acting or sound design all of these factors being incredible. The one issue the show presents is with its animations, which at times can feel rather stilted and slow. However this is partly due to the amazing character and set designs which makes animating such complex visuals which are far removed from our reality a hard task in and of itself. Despite this I have to heavily recommend watching T2BHITG, if not for its interesting perspective on mental health, then for its unique comedic takes on what we consider normal.

Thanks for reading.

A Short Christmas animation I made, in order to bring a bit of Christmas Magic to my Nephew and Nieces Gifts. I did this animation with photos on my Trail cam. The story I gave them that the local fox took one of their Christmas gifts, however it was magic and decided to walk back home. It then put itself back into the box perfectly. I also took a ton of footage of the local animals for you all to enjoy.

So these two collages have been 3 years in the making as I had to gather enough maps to do them. The first one is a brain map and the second one is my take on a kinda Jackson Po***ck styled work.

Ok so this is a short bit of hand drawn digital animation I did for a student project called The Fox.
But other than that I feel like an owe everyone a bit of an explanation regarding my absence.
First off in regards to where I have been, well its a bit complicated, I had to take 3 months off to recover from a back injury and covid. Then I ended up doing a 1 month online course where I got a TQUK Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Autism (RQF) which I believed would help with my activism. Then Finally I worked on this animation that you're currently seeing for around 2 months. It would have been much less time if progress was continuous, however when you're working with a director things can get complex.

So where are things going from here?
Well to be honest I have become really burnt out with the idea of activism, more so that I constantly feel like I am letting people down by not doing it and right now I feel as If I need to separate my own mentality from autistics activism and the feeling that I am letting people suffer when I am not working. Which is causing me more mental stress and ending up with me procrastinating more partly because of pathological avoidance. It doesn’t help that my animation set is right next to my bed which makes it hard to sleep when looking at your work with an autistic ADHD brain.

So for now I will be working on a book, that I am really enjoying writing, I feel like this book is a way forward for me at the moment. Although I do intend on going back to animation once I am able to separate myself from the feeling obligation and stress caused by the idea that I am letting autistic children down by not working on what is clearly a hobby until I am able to find a source of revenue for my work.

Just uploading some drawings of my recent work, will be posting some digital animations later on in the week. And hopefully soon I will be able to get back to working on my Animated music video which hasn't been the biggest priority for a while now. But It's something I really wan't to get back to working on.

A Timelapse of all my animation work between November 2019- and January 2022. I'm now healed from my slipped disk and getting back to my animation work, I'll also be working on a student project with some university students about the subject of depression.

(I have been rather sick for the past few days & haven't had the energy to get my animation work done. However I have gotten a bunch of green screens made for my upcoming animation Stimming in the Rain)

So today I got a blood test, worked a bit on my emails and spent the rest of the day, working on the combination of practical and digital effects. To create this rain overlay which I am very happy with.

So I just finished making the set and all the props for my Stimming In The Rain Animation light night. I’ll soon get started on the animation process by making the first few sense of the project.
Setting up the lights proved to be quite difficult and finicky, although I had a lot more trouble with the Umbrella, as I originally wanted to make a fully functioning one. However after trying to make it 3 times and failing. I ended up making a simplified version and added lights.
I have to say I am super happy with the results.

So I think it’s about time I update you all on what’s been happening over the last few months as well as my future plans.

1. I annoyingly ended the year with my IMac completely bricking as well as having the screen break during transport. So I ended up having to get a new one in order to animate. I have to say it was worth the investment as I am very happy with its performance.

2. I invested a lot of money in the amazing products from Animation Toolkit. And I am very happy with what I have got, in which I have to say it has helped improve my animation quality over all due to the easy of use of their systems and set up.

3. I spent about 1 month working on how I would stylise and my new armatures, their clothing, body shapes and forms and all the props and backgrounds I might need. For my upcoming project.

4. My Current upcoming project of which I am working on with Sam Gardham, will be titled Stimming in the Rain and it will be about a 2.30 minute musical number. Singing in the rain but with a new tune and lyrics.

5. Once I have finished the Stimming In The Rain project in a few weeks time, I will be (applying for grants or lunching funding campings or approaching animation studios in the UK) in order to fund my dream project of an Animated Musical about Autism, worked on by an all autistic team.

6. I do have other plans past the musical project, but I will talk about that another time.

At any rate if you haven’t already done so please consider liking and following this FB page. As the likes and comments really help with that all to needed dopamine hit.
Thanks for Reading.
