How I photograph a wedding.

Over the last few years, I’ve realised that my job isn’t to direct a wedding day. It’s to quietly become part of it.

Before I pick up my camera, I spend time watching. Every wedding has its own rhythm, and every couple is different. The more comfortable you feel, the more natural the photographs become.

My background in design taught me to notice light, composition and detail. Wedding photography taught me to notice people. Bringing those two together is where I feel most at home.

If you’ve forgotten I’m there, I’m probably doing my job well.

Because years from now, I don’t just want you to remember how your wedding looked.

I want you to remember how it felt.

Another film camera joins the collection.

Getting back into shooting 35mm has been a bit of an experiment.

Every camera has its own personality, and I’m still figuring out which one feels right for the way I photograph weddings.

This one’s the Yashica T3.

I can’t wait to put a roll through it.

These black and white moments are from Amir & Nadia’s wedding a few years ago.

Watching them again reminds me why I love documentary photography. It’s rarely the perfectly posed moments that stay with us. It’s the glance across the room, the squeeze of a hand, the laughter between everything else.
