5. JOHN SNOW, SOHO: The John Snow pub is that it is named after Dr. John Snow, a physician who played a crucial role in identifying the source of a cholera outbreak in London in 1854. He traced the outbreak to contaminated water from a public pump on Broad Street (now Broadwick Street), near the location of the pub.
