Honouring the incredible West Indian’s who came over to the UK, to rebuild the city, run the NHS, transport and many other essential services. My father was part of what is now known as the Windrush generation who have contributed so fundamentally and in so many ways to the UK. Today we honour them and their incredible contribution and sacrifice in the face of racism and inequity. I am proud to be the descendant of such a talented, creative and brilliant group of people and love this beautiful monument created by the brilliant .sculpture.

9 years on from the Grenfell Tower tragedy, there has still been no justice for the families of the 72 people who needlessly lost their lives. Let’s not forget them today. May they receive the justice they deserve and may this never be repeated again!

Yesterday we attended the private view of Project a Black Planet: The Art and Culture of Panafrica at the Barbican.

My immediate thought? I’ll need to come back. This is not an exhibition that can be absorbed in a single visit, particularly on a busy preview night, when the great and the good turned out for the occasion.

With more than 300 works spanning painting, film, installation, journals and posters, it feels less like an exhibition and more like an expansive archive of ideas, histories, struggles and possibilities.

What stayed with us most was the exhibition’s framing of Pan-Africanism as a conceptual space shaped by imagination, resistance, solidarity and collective visions of liberation. It highlights the powerful role artists have played in shaping political thought and social change across Africa and its global diasporas.

This resonates deeply with our work at CAS. Questions of representation, belonging, power and equity sit at the heart of what we do, and the exhibition reflects many of the values that guide our practice: integrity, critical questioning, authenticity, empowerment and care. Exhibitions like this remind us that cultural spaces are not neutral; they are places where ideas are negotiated, challenged and reimagined.

This is definitely an exhibition that requires time, attention and curiosity. We look forward to returning and absorbing it fully.

What an inspiring morning to celebrate the graduation of another 17 mentees on the fabulous ’s second Pathways Programme cohort at the Guardian. It was brilliant to hear from the Managing Director, Kath Viner, Deputy Editor, Owen Gibson and Programme Mentors and Mentees alike about how rewarding this programme is for everyone involved. As a Programme Mentor and Training Consultant, I can honestly say after over three years being involved this initiative is one the most impactful programmes I have encountered. And it continues to grow from strength to strength. 100% of this years cohort felt they had grown in professional confidence over the duration of the 9 month pathways programme. 93% felt they had increased their sense of professional belonging. Nearly 80% reporting that they had developed networks and important relationships across the organisation and over 50% have advanced in their careers, through promotions, secondments and role expansions. When the right conditions are in place - guess what - women of colour THRIVE!!! Amazing - I’m so looking forward to Cohort 3!

Really sad to hear about the passing of the trailblazing and fearless founder of the MOBO Awards, the great Kanya King. She did so much for Black British talent and fought to the end with strength and grace. What an incredible woman who will continue to inspire us! Rest in Eternal peace!

This is what getting the job done looks like! continues to inspire and deliver for the people of Barbados in terms of independence in terms of forming a republic, economic stabilisation and climate justice and advocacy. She is the longest serving female PM with the consecutive terms. What an inspiration!

Happy St Patrick’s Day - the beautiful emerald island of Montserrat, my father’s birthplace, is the only place on the Earth outside of Ireland that officially celebrates St Patrick’s Day!☘️ It is in recognition of the 1768 uprising and is a symbol of resistance against oppression! ☘️🌈🎩

‘She was my shelter and my storm’ What an amazing book by Arundhati Roy. Her life story woven around an unusual tribute to her mother. Two incredible woman, one who caused great trauma but also great independence of mind. One that Arundhati escaped from but also had an incredible amount of respect for. Her mother was a ‘gangsta’ and revered by most who knew her for her incredible achievements. Learning about her hilarious, awful and sometimes downright unbelievable behaviour is an incredible way to understand Arundhati herself and the complexity of women and mother/daughter relationships. A hilarious and deeply troubling and moving book all rolled into one. About the author and the incredible woman who shaped her, in good and terrible ways! A must read!
