Almond begins with Yunjae, a boy who struggles to recognise and express emotion. In her latest novel, 『젊음의 나라(A Nation of Youth)』, Sohn Won-pyung turns to a very different question: what happens to the meaning of youth in an ageing society?

One of Korea’s most widely read contemporary novelists, Sohn joins us to discuss these two works — from the internationally acclaimed Almond to her latest vision of a near-future Korea shaped by demographic change.

Moving between the personal and the societal, the conversation will explore emotion and empathy, ageing and generational change, and the questions that have shaped Sohn’s fiction.

Kim Choyeop’s science fiction begins with imagined worlds, but the questions at its heart are often deeply human.

One of Korea’s leading voices in contemporary science fiction, Kim joins us to discuss『If We Cannot Go at the Speed of Light』, her debut short story collection newly published in English, alongside her latest novel, 『태양 아래 올리브(Olives Under the Sun)』.

Moving between these two works, the conversation will explore the ideas that shape Kim’s fiction — science and imagination, belief and connection, and the ways we encounter what is different, unfamiliar, or unknown.

A modern-day chef finds herself 500 years in the past — and cooking for a king.

Transported to the Joseon era, Yeon Ji-young brings the culinary knowledge of her own time into the royal kitchen, where she must navigate palace life and the demands of a king with an extraordinary sense of taste.

Blending time travel, romance, historical drama and food, Bon Appétit, Your Majesty places cooking at the heart of its story, bringing a contemporary twist to the world of the historical K-drama.

Following the screening, director Chang Tae You will be joined by Sehee Jang of CJ ENM and Ed Waller of C21Media for a conversation about the making of the series — from its development and production to the creative choices behind bringing its distinctive world to screen.

At the notoriously tough Yusung Technical High School, Ga-min has his sights set on college. Determined to improve his grades, he forms a study group with his classmates — and discovers just how much of a fight studying can become.

Based on the popular Korean webtoon, Study Group is a coming-of-age action drama about friendship, determination and the effort it takes to change the course of your own future.

Following the screening, Shin Hyungwuk and Ryu Seung Yeon, the writer and artist behind the original Study Group webtoon, will join us for a conversation about the story and its journey from webtoon to screen.
