London Scribes, first established in 1992 by Craig Poland-Smith, uses time-honoured materials and classic styles to provide traditional calligraphy. With skills honed over 13 years of practice, current Company Director and head calligrapher, Jenny Collier, creates handwritten pieces for a wide range of clients. Using classic dip pens, traditional ink

s and the highest quality stationery London Scribes enhances events, visual communication and personal correspondence for our clients. Providing many writing, printing and stationery services - designing and writing invitations, placement cards, signage and handwritten menus and more; artistic inspiration and ideas are brought to life with a personal touch and the craft of hand calligraphy. A bespoke London Scribes typeface has been created to complement the classic italic handwritten style so larger projects can be realised in shorter timeframes and at reduced cost. Additionally, original watercolour and gouache paintings are used exclusively for London Scribes and their clients – producing cards, invitations, decorations and personalised stationery made with 100% post-consumer waste paper. Based in central London to be nearby many of our clients and suppliers, London Scribes are committed to best practice, sustainability and reducing emissions in all we do.

Before the Christmas break, we were honoured to receive a special delivery from Anderson & Sheppard - Tailors to HM The King. It’s the result of our joyful collaboration in launching their ingenious Off-Cut Tweed project. ⁣
⁣
Jenny Collier of London Scribes was asked to create an illustration that would be turned into Anderson & Sheppard’s highly sought after seasonal pocket square, sent around the world to many of their excellently-attired clients. ⁣
⁣
Having begun the process experimenting with gouache colours we chose to develop the design to be an artistic interpretation of the tweed at 1:1 scale and are thrilled with how it turned out. ⁣
⁣
We couldn’t resist adding some festive touches to the inside of the card too, including the little sausage in her tweed bed…⁣
⁣

Come and learn lovely classic italic lettering with me (professional calligrapher here, hi! 👋 ) and while away a couple of hours with mindful, swirly mark making. Enjoy Little Swift’s delicious drinks and snacks while you do... 
 
All levels welcome, I’ve taught penpals from 5-85 but this one’s for those 18 and up... 
 
Sundays 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th April - 1 til 3pm at Little Swift, 7-8 Marine Drive, Margate, CT9 1DH 
 
You can book all 4 sessions for £80, or if there are spaces (we’re a small group so you get lots of personal guidance) - £25 for a single session. All materials provided for you to keep!
