Entelechy Arts

Entelechy Arts Entelechy Arts is a charity based in Lewisham, South East London.

We produce projects which powerfully test the boundaries between art, creativity, care, wellbeing and community. We believe in the creative power of the individual, and that everyone should have the opportunity to contribute to the cultural life of their local community. This richness in sharing stories and experiences of those who can often feel underrepresented, encourages stronger communities,

changes perceptions, and ultimately helps people live healthier, happier and more connected lives. We produce vibrant and important cultural programmes, created by and for the communities we work with, namely isolated older people, those living with profound and multiple disabilities, and those living in care home environments, enabling them to play an active and visible role in the creative life of their community. Our programmes are often developed in partnership with organisations from across the arts, health and care industries on a local and national level. We work with a pioneering and diverse range of artists across all art forms, who collaborate with our communities to meet, celebrate, and experience each other and the world.

Last year, Meet Me at the Albany members made beautiful masks inspired by Chinese cinema, in sessions led by artist 🎭

To mark Chinese New Year, we used these masks in a video with Meet Me member Astrid. The video is inspired by the Chinese art of Bian Lian, or "face-changing".

Happy Chinese New Year! 🔥🐎🎉🐴🎊🔥✨️

Last year, our Creative Director Rebecca Swift contributed a chapter to Care Aesthetics and the Arts, published by Routledge Books! 📚✨

The chapter is about our Ambient Jam programme, a multi-sensory improvisation co-created by people labelled with profound multiple learning disabilities (PMLD). Rebecca's chapter discusses tracing reciprocal care within a differently abled ensemble, and 'deep hanging out'.

You can read Rebecca's chapter online here: https://www.taylorfrancis.com/chapters/oa-edit/10.4324/9781003530886-21/ambient-jam-rebecca-swift?context=ubx&refId=6beba19d-6217-4d3b-bed1-1f34eb4f2f49
