London Design Festival

London Design Festival Next edition: 12-20 September 2026

Discover designers from across the world and join us in celebrating London as a design capital on the global stage.

London Design Festival was launched by Sir John Sorrell CBE and Ben Evans CBE in 2003. Building on London’s existing design activity, their concept was to create an annual event that would promote the city’s creativity, drawing in the country’s greatest thinkers, practitioners, retailers and educators to a deliver an unmissable celebration of design. The launch of the first Festival took place at

Bloomberg on 25 March 2003, with a show of support from design, education, government and London organisations. 20 years later, this vision remains ever strong. In 2019, the Festival welcomed a record-breaking 600,000 individual visitors from over 75 countries. Celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2022, London Design Festival now moves into a new decade, celebrating how it has played a key role in the growth of the design industry, bolstering London’s position as a global destination for business, culture and tourism, and contributed to the UK’s reputation as a creative powerhouse. As one of the world’s leading design events, the Festival has also served as the blueprint for design weeks and festivals globally and continues to be a key moment on the cultural calendar.

In case you missed it – discover Patterns of Possibilities v2 at Global Design Forum Istanbul 👀

“Every 6 minutes and 39 seconds, the installation combines 2,916 possible elements in a new, unpredictable way. When the cycle ends, the system resets and begins again, producing a completely different outcome each time. Each visual sequence is accompanied by corresponding sounds, which come together to form an evolving audio landscape.”

Patterns of Possibilities v2 is a continuation of ’s previous project from 2015. This special edition, presented at Global Design Forum Istanbul, captures one full cycle of this system, offering a recorded glimpse into a continuous and ever-changing formation.

LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize 2026: Swipe to meet the winning makers and their work → 🏆✨

This year’s winner is South Korean artist Jongjin Park for Strata of Illusion, a work that challenges conventional ideas of ceramics. Formed from intricate layers of paper coated in coloured porcelain slip, the piece dramatically transforms and distorts during the firing process.

Special mentions were awarded to the Baba Tree Master Weavers and Álvaro Catalán de Ocón for Frafra Tapestry, a communal weaving project based on aerial photography of a village in Ghana’s Gurunsi region. Italian jewellery artist Graziano Visintin was also recognised for Collier, a pair of gold necklaces featuring niello, an ancient metalworking technique.

Reframing how we engage and experience space, Oblique Land is a public installation created for the Bosphorus-facing grounds of Kabataş High School.

Its angled surface encourages visitors to move differently, shifting their balance and perspective as they engage with the view. In doing so, this site-specific installation recalls the historic hills overlooking the Bosphorus and invites the public to reconnect with this shared urban landscape.

Designed by and , Oblique Land is on view until 7 June.

Positioned along the entrance axis of the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Arts, Wall | Tribune | Gate is an installation reflecting İstanbul’s layered history and evolving urban fabric.

Lightweight and temporary in form, the structure connects past and present, using simple architectural gestures to reveal the hidden layers of the city.

The installation, designed as a place to gather, pause and observe, takes inspiration from the ancient Hippodrome, once one of the city’s most important public spaces during the Roman and Byzantine periods.

On view until 7 June, Wall | Tribune | Gate has been designed by and of .

A Melting Tomorrow is an immersive dining installation inspired by the curatorial idea: “Time is not a linear structure but an endless flow, and to live in all times simultaneously.”

The work explored time through food, presenting an eating experience where nothing is fixed or permanent. Rather than thinking in terms of past, present, and future, the installation suggested that everything exists in a continuous state of flux.

Designed by , A Melting Tomorrow was part of the Forum’s Placemaking programme of public installations and sat within the curatorial framework titled Praise of Transience by . Read more about the full programme via our link in bio. 🔗

Yakîn explores space through the lens of Islamic mysticism. Instead of seeing space as something purely physical, the installation invites us to think of it as something that exists within us.

At the centre of Yakîn is the idea of the human self as layered and evolving – represented by flowing silk curtains that gradually become denser. As visitors move through the installation, they are invited to reflect on a more essential idea of space, one that is shaped by human experience and deeply connected to the self.

Open until 7 June, the installation was created by , , , .turkylmaz and Architecture Department students from .
