Celebrate what would have been the 100th birthday of one of the most influential and widely recorded modern percussionists, Max Roach.

See trumpeter Charles Tolliver - who performed alongside Roach early in his career - as he joins together with Darrell Green on drums, Camille Thurman on tenor saxophone and an all star UK big band led by Tony Kofi at the Barbican on 18 November.

Max Roach unarguably sits at the throne of drum Percussionists. A quintessential member of the Artform ushered in by Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Bud Powell, Thelonious Monk, and Kenny Clark, his inimitable style and innovations paved the way for generations of drummers well into the future.
