I’ve lived a life whereby I’ve felt I’ve had to be small to allow other to feel comfortable,In that I tell younger Sonny in some other alternate universe and now, you can be big.

I’ve told myself that from negative attitudes towards my stammer no one would take me seriously. I tell myself now for every one person who did and does that, 3 others see you in your entirety.

Thank you to every being that came and watched Saturn Returns. Every night was different no night was the same and that was my main aim for Saturn Returns for it to become a living breathing piece of work. That is moved by who is in the audience .

Thank you to the Gateway Arts Team. There is something so special about this team that I cannot put into words. The synergy, the desire to dream and the commitment to keep going and the professionalism is why any of this happened . This Choreopoem is nothing without you all and thank you for holding our baby.

To my support system and especially my partner for all their support, the checking ins when I don’t reply and patience with me , I’m. Beyond appreciative.

Thank you to Brixton House for welcoming us and our artistic form. It’s means the world that you did that.

As I now leave my own Saturn Return I pray that this piece goes on to touch people in that period of life the way it has touched me. I pray that for whatever this thing we call life throws at us we ALL remember that:

WE DON’T SWIM , WE WALK ON THE WATER!

Wow! I cannot believe the last two weeks of R&D for my new work ‘Eve and Cain’ which looks into the intersectionality of being black, gay and disabled.
My Heart is full of gratitude to be able to tell this story.

This peice wouldn’t of been what it was if it wasn’t for the beautiful souls involved. Thank you for holding Eve & Cain(and Pepper) like your own.

About Eve and Cain (Working Title)
Eve and Cain gives an honest dialogue on what stammering is from an internalised, emotional & personal context. It offers a unique & rare opportunity to open up conversations around communication disabilities. Conversations around stammering in the media are usually portrayed through humour or trying to change people who stammer to have more fluency. Eve and Cain hopes to raise important questions around stammering & help promote representation and further awareness of communication disabilities.

Project Dates
Rehearsal and Development: Monday 27 September - Friday 4 October 2021
Please note applicants must be able to attend all project dates.
The R&D will take place in London

Very happy to announce that the Saturn Returns team will return next year at The Southbank Centre. The hour will include a viewing of our new trailer, a live Q&A with the team led by Dr Masuma Rahim , live poetry read directly from the choreopoem and a special announcement at the end.
