Central School of Ballet is one of Europe’s leading centres for professional dance training.

The school was founded in 1982 by Ann Stannard and the late Christopher Gable CBE, who established the school’s values of artistic expression in dance, and the importance of technique. Central offers a two year Foundation Degree in Professional Dance and Performance leading to a further year of training to complete a BA (Hons) degree, and a ballet-focused MA Choreography programme, all accredited by the University of Kent.

Following the sad passing of Sara Matthews, her family would like to announce that there will be a service to celebrate her life at St Paul’s Church, Covent Garden, at 1.30pm on Friday 23 October 2026. All those who knew and loved her are welcome.

Pointe Shoe Week recap 🩰

This year’s Pointe Shoe Week was a fantastic success, bringing together industry specialists, leading ballet brands and Central students for a week of exploration, education and, most importantly, conversation.

Our students had the chance to try shoes from Bloch, Freed, Virtisse, Grishko, R-Class, Merlet and more!

Some moments from our Associate Induction Day today!

Congratulations to all the dancers joining us on our Associate Programme this year, we are thrilled to have you in the studios. Aside from their first ballet classes of the term, students were introduced to Strength and Conditioning with degree course tutor Christopher Hinton-Lewis, and also had a session with Ciara Sampson on the power of feedback 💪
