Delight Is Right at the Barbican this Sunday is going to be one for the ages! I’m honoured to share the stage with some of my very favourite people and musicians.
Me and drummer-extrodinaire Andrew Cheetham up first, followed by TRISTWYCH Y FENYWOD, who made the album of 2024 - an unexpected and perfect marriage of mangled celtic harp, goth-pop, lo-fi clattering and boinging, deadly hooks and abject wailing.
Next, OXN - a badass nightmare-fuel folk supergroup, featuring members of LANKUM and PERCOLATOR, a bit like if Neu! played only pummelling funeral dirges.
Then we have Bradford’s HAMEED BROTHERS QAWWAL who’ve been performing their own dynamic take on this thousands-of-years-old artform for three decades - prepare to have your socks blown off.
We also have Heather Ferrier - Dazzling, unique, hypnotic and lush accordion reveries from one of the UK’s most exciting composer-instrumentalists.
The Last Path - majestic plodging shoegaze post-folk-rock-doom-pop from this lovely Newcastle trio who paint the most beautiful wide-canvas mucky grey hillscapes for the ear. No frills, all thrills.
Yotuns - this wonderful new(ish) duo of Christian Alderson (UNIT AMA) and Sally Pilkington (HEN OGLEDD / BULBILS) calmly navigates the razor’s edge between ambient drone and freaky improv through hypnotic fields of burbling synth, heartwrenching organ, righteous thumping and distant winsome sirening.
Finally, I’ll perform with my friends and favourite band CIRCLE - the life-enhancing experimental rock band from Finland often referred to as The Best Band In All Genres. I can’t wait to share this night of old and new songs with you.
