It's **Music in the Ville's Big Benefit** 🎻🎶 at St James Church Clerkenwell and it would be amazing to see you there! Founded in the belief that everyone deserves access to live music, no matter where they are, Music in the Ville runs weekly music sessions with 15+ men, exploring songwriting, singing, and improvisation. They also host monthly open mic and 'busking' session on the wings reaching around 600 people. It’s a tough environment, but the impact is real!

We had a wonderful concert on Thursday evening at The Old Church Stoke Newington! Massive thanks to brilliant players - Kuljit Bhamra Emma Purslow, David Zucchi, Iñigo Mikeleiz Berrade Accordion and Attab Haddad for a fabulous programme celebrating creative and cultural connections and including world premiere of the ebulliant Dance Kotsari by Effy Efthymiou! Absolutely ✨loving✨ these rehearsal photos by Hugh Schulte. Yesterday we spent time working on the programme with musicians Kuljit Bhamra, Attab Haddad, Iñigo Mikeleiz Berrade Accordion, Emma Purslow and David Zucchi, plus composer Effy Efthymiou was on hand with her brand new piece, Dance Kotsari.

Tomorrow's concert at The Old Church only has a couple of tickets remaining (at the time of writing) - snap them up quickly before someone else does.

Praised for his “urgently visceral” playing (TEMPO), London-based Canadian saxophonist David Zucchi enjoys a varied career as a performer of classical, contemporary, experimental, and improvised music, collaborating regularly across the UK, Europe, and Canada.

He has been featured by Nonclassical, Array Music, the Composers Platform, and the Royal Over-Seas League, appears on recordings from NMC Recordings, Another Timbre, Delphian Records,Signum Records, Sawyer Editions, and Birmingham Record Company. Recent appearances as a soloist and chamber musician include Wigmore Hall, Purcell Room, St John’s Smith Square, HCMF - Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Contemporary Music Festival, Sounds Like This!, Verbier Festival (Switzerland), Vale de Cambra Music Festival (Portugal), Glenn Gould Studio CBC, and the Canadian High Commission in London.

One of his regular includes accordionist Iñigo Mikeleiz-Berrade as the Mikeleiz-Zucchi Duo, winners of the 2021 ROSL Mixed Ensemble Prize and City Music Foundation artists, and with whom David has performed extensively at major venues and festivals throughout the UK and Europe.

David and his MZ Duo partner Iñigo Mikeleiz Berrade Accordion will perform in Cultural Connections with Kuljit Bhamra, Attab Haddad and Emma Purslow at the The Old Church in Stoke Newington on Thursday 14 November 2024.

🔦 MUSICIAN FOCUS 🔦

Born in 1994 in Barañáin (Navarra), accordion player Iñigo gained his Bachelor Degree in Music from the Conservatory of Music in Navarra with Nekane Iturrioz and his Master of Arts and Advanced Diploma degrees at the Royal Academy of Music in London under Professor Owen Murray.

He has performed in venues such as the Royal Festival Hall, Barbican Centre, Royal Albert Hall, and Wigmore Hall, collaborating with the London Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Opera North, Glyndebourne, and the Riot Ensemble.

Iñigo is member of the Mikeleiz-Zucchi Duo or M-Z Duo (David Zucchi, saxophone) and Diphonon Duo (Michael Iskas, viola), with whom he recorded the CD Emerging Voices. Moreover, he is an active promoter of the accordion and collaborates in the creation and première of new works in various instrumental formats and artistic disciplines, including two concertos for accordion and orchestra.

🔦MUSICIAN FOCUS🔦
British born Emma Purslow is a violinist and violist working as a chamber musician, educator, soloist and orchestral player in the UK and abroad.

She is first violin of the Alkyona Quartet with whom she is currently Royal College of Music String Quartet Fellow 2022-2024. She has also recently enjoyed guest performing with the Navarra Quartet, Sacconi Quartet and Explore Ensemble, and as as a chamber musician at festivals including Presteigne Festival, Helsinki Festival, and Melbourne Quartetthaus Festival. Emma enjoys a varied orchestral career performing regularly as a member of O/Modernt Chamber Orchestra, and as a freelancer with orchestras including the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales as well as many others around the UK. Emma led the Street Orchestra Live of London between 2016-2019. Described by the Guardian as "truly uplifting" this 40-piece ensemble brings live performance to those unable to access it.

Emma is a sought-after teacher and educator, with a position teaching at Chetham's School of Music, and as a workshop leader for London Mozart Players. She also coaches regularly at the National Children's Orchestras of Great Britain and Royal College of Music Junior Department. She is active on the folk music scene in London as a member of Anglo-Chilean band Quimantu, and works closely with them creating opportunities for people of all cultures to express themselves through music.

We look forward to working with Emma for Cultural Connections at The Old Church on Thursday 14 November, when she'll be taking to the stage with Kuljit Bhamra, Attab Haddad, Iñigo Mikeleiz Berrade Accordion and David Zucchi. Tickets are on sale now 👇
