It's about their mom.
Carlos Yulo, the double Olympic champion, and his younger brother Eldrew, 18, are competing for the Philippines in Nagoya, Japan, and some of the comments about them bring her up.
One comment, quoted by the Daily Tribune, tells one of them that everyone is waiting for him to lose, so maybe he'll remember he has a mother.
It comes from the family's feud with their mom, Angelica, which became public in 2024 when Carlos questioned how she had handled some of his incentives and bank transactions.
She denied it and later apologized, but the feud has flared up online again this month.
On the mat in Nagoya, the brothers have been doing their jobs.
Carlos fell on vault and high bar on Monday, and he still qualified first on floor, plus the vault and parallel bars finals.
Eldrew outscored his big brother in the all-around and made two finals of his own, floor and high bar.
"At the end of the day I still did what's the best that I could do," Carlos said.
I'm a mom, so I'll say this gently. What happens inside a family is theirs to work out, and I hope they do.
Rooting for them to lose won't fix it.
The floor final is Thursday, September 24, and both Yulo brothers are set to be on the same mat, competing for the Philippines.
