🎙️ There’s always a peaceful little moment before the first take.

The mic is ready, the session is open and the room is completely quiet.

Then someone steps up, puts the headphones on and suddenly the space is filled with a voice, an idea or a song that might not have existed a few hours earlier.

We share plenty of moments from the middle of recording sessions, but there’s something special about the few quiet minutes before everything begins. ✨

🎙️ Welcome back to Studio Talks.

In this episode, we’re joined by Q**m Agulló, professionally known as Mike Sting, music producer, senior engineer and multi-instrumentalist at Camden Records.

Q**m talks about how his journey into music production began, how he became part of the Camden Records team, and what’s next as he continues to build his career in the music industry.

Alongside his work at Camden Records, Q**m is also the CEO of Spectro Studio, a DJ and an active performing musician, bringing a wide range of experience into every project he works on.

🎙️ Recording should feel organised, relaxed and focused on the performance.

Before the first take, we set up the microphones, check levels and make sure you’re comfortable with what you hear in your headphones.

From there, you can record multiple takes, listen back as you go and work with your engineer to find the strongest performance.

Once the session is finished, your tracks are labelled, organised and uploaded to your private cloud folder, so everything is ready for mixing.

That’s what a recording session at Camden Records looks like. 🎶

🎤 UNSIGNED ARTISTS, YOUR NEXT FESTIVAL SLOT COULD BE HERE.

Applications are now open to perform at Loopfest 2027.

Returning in April 2027, Loopfest will take over bars, venues and stages across Shrewsbury town centre, showcasing emerging and unsigned artists throughout the festival.

If you’re looking for more opportunities to perform live, reach new audiences and get involved in the grassroots music scene, this is one worth checking out.

Loopfest will provide a PA system, sound tech, bass amp, guitar amps and a basic drum kit at each venue. Artists will need to bring any additional equipment they require. DJs should bring their own controller, decks or mixer, while artists using backing tracks will need their own playback device and cables.

🎺 Did you know brass instruments weren’t originally created for music?

Thousands of years ago, early horns and trumpets were used to communicate across forests, battlefields and towns. They were designed to carry sound over long distances, not to perform in orchestras.

Over time those simple signalling instruments evolved into the brass family we know today. The trumpet, trombone, French horn and tuba all share the same roots, even though each has developed its own unique sound and role.

Recording brass ensembles is always a reminder of the incredible history behind every instrument.
