EARTH CRY 🌏

Today marks the sixth anniversary of the death of celebrated Australian composer Peter Sculthorpe.

As a key figure in Australian contemporary music, Sculthorpe’s poignant Earth Cry was the centrepiece of the Australian Bushfire Benefit London, held at the Royal Academy of Music Duke’s Hall on March 1. We’re so pleased to share the performance with you, conducted here by the legendary Australian conductor Simone Young.

ABBL was formed by Australian musicians in London who produced a concert featuring Australia’s finest musicians with full orchestra and choir, to honour the brave men and women who fought the worst fires in Australia’s history. Our hearts are with the people of Australia and we hope that the 40,000GBP raised from this concert are making a tangible difference to the victims of this horrific tragedy.

Now, many of the musicians on stage here face an uncertain future due to the ongoing pandemic. Please consider donating to the Tait Memorial Trust Emergency Relief Fund, in support of young Australian musicians based in the UK who have lost their income.
