🏳️‍🌈 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 is a time for visibility, celebration, and recognising the progress made towards equality. However, while communities across the UK come together to celebrate, we cannot ignore a deeply troubling reality.

𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐊.

Interventions that seek to change, suppress, deny, or "cure" a person's sexual orientation or gender identity continue to take place across the country. These practices cause profound and lasting harm to LGBTQ+ people.

Let us be absolutely clear:

𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 "𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐲" 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐲. 𝐈𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐞.

There is nothing wrong with being le***an, gay, bisexual, transgender, q***r, or any other LGBTQ+ identity. Attempts to erase, shame, coerce, manipulate, or suppress who someone is have no place in a modern, inclusive society.

As proud members of the Coalition, 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐎𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 stands alongside survivors, advocates, and allies in demanding urgent action from the Government.

This Pride Month, we are once again saying:

𝐍𝐨 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.

The Government must publish its draft Bill before the summer recess and deliver a comprehensive ban that protects everyone, including transgender people, from these abusive practices.
