We’re pleased to share “On Record: Where We Move Sideways” an editorial series by Not The Owners, developed in dialogue with “Lines of Flight”, CASA’s multi-artform programme at Brixton House.

Running alongside the programme’s live and in-person activations, the series adds a discursive layer that opens up its curatorial questions through conversation and reflection.

Through a series of in-depth exchanges with artists, curators, and cultural workers, it explores how they respond to the structures shaping artistic and cultural work today, the forms of relation they build through their practices, and the ways they create space for thinking and making that do not always fit dominant structures.

📌 On the blog! Lizi Sánchez: Between the Lines of Language and Belonging

Peruvian artist Lizi Sánchez works in the in-between - between languages, systems, and the pauses in communication. Her delicate yet deliberate materials unfold as sculptural drawings, lingering in the space between what’s said and what’s felt.

In this interview, Lizi reflects on migration and the subtle power of not fully fitting into categories. Her work resists simplification - inviting us to slow down, read between the lines, and listen closely.

New on the Blog!

We’re excited to share the first feature of In the Making: Conversations on Latin American Art in the UK with artist Francisca Sosa López.

In this conversation titled “I Don’t Want to Be Seen Only as a Latin American Artist”, Francisca opens up about her journey, how memory, migration, and identity shape her artistic practice, and her commitment to creating intimate, personal narratives through textiles, painting, and sculpture.

Her work goes beyond the surface, exploring the intersection of culture, art, and identity in a way that challenges expectations and invites reflection.

📌 In the Making: Conversations on Latin American Art in the UK

We’re excited to share the “In the Making” series - 10 selected interviews from a collection of 18 conversations centered around Latin American art and art professionals and their role in the multicultural landscape of the UK.

The series emerged from research conducted by Raquel Gonzalez Eizmendiz during her placement at Not The Owners, alongside her dissertation as part of the Erasmus Mundus Master’s programme “Global Markets, Local Creativities”. It explores themes of identity, migration, and cultural legitimacy, offering a narrative thread that connects the diverse practices featured.

Through this series, we aim to bring forth diverse voices that offer insight into the complexities and realities of their practices within the broader international context.

📌 On presence, process and the people behind it.

Over the past few months, we’ve been joined by Raquel Gonzalez, who took part in Not The Owners (NTO) as an intern during the final semester of her Erasmus Mundus MA in Global Markets, Local Creativities ( ), based at the Erasmus School of History, Culture and Communication in Rotterdam ( ).

This collaboration is part of a wider conversation we’re invested in – bridging independent artistic platforms and academic contexts to inform more grounded, long-term thinking in the arts.

Raquel supported us in putting language to ideas that had been in motion for some time – refining our mission and surfacing our values.

One of the outcomes of this process – a new editorial project currently being developed by our team, drawing from a series of interviews and texts produced by Raquel during her time with us – will soon take form on our platform.

Stay close!
