The Zambia Army Inter-Unit Drill Competition that was hosted by the Military Training Establishment of Zambia (MILTEZ) had everyone on the edge of their seats as Soldiers from various Units of the Zambia Army battled it out in a four-day drill competition.
The event was held as a critical component to gauge Unitsβ operational readiness and institutional discipline, providing a platform for Soldiers to further solidify comradeship among each other.
The Drill Masters of Lusaka proved they are the cream of the crop, taking the top spot and proving they are indeed, second to none.
The Crested Crane men and women while missing βKambowaβ put up a good fight, and had to settle for second place.
The βFighting Fourβ were left negotiating with Lieutenant Colonel Michael Lambe if they could be entrusted the responsibility of taking care of the Crested Cranes, realising too late they were outdrilled.
Army Headquarters kept a low profile, wisely choosing not to shout their self proclaimed slogan, "Mother of all Units" after realising three Units outshone them in the Major Unit category.
In the Minor Units category, Luapula's Water Boys splashed their way to first place, closely followed by the Chindwin Men and Women, who played it cool and kept their central location status intact.
The School of Artillery, on the other hand, didn't quite shell it to the top, but were stuck in third place.
Brigadier General Baird Kashumba who graced the closing ceremony said those that made to the podium proved that victory is a direct result of exemplary preparation, tireless rehearsals, and determination.
He urged those who didn't win to learn from the experience and maintain their focus on the mission.
Brig Gen Kashumba said MILTEZ remains committed to hosting future events and providing the environment and expertise required to refine its personnel, ensuring they remain disciplined, sharp and combat-ready.
