GLBA AWARD WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT
We proudly unveil Mr Ray Nyabola (UK), as the recipient of the Founder's Impact Award for Equity & Representation in Golf. Join us in celebrating his achievements.
Ray Nyabola is recognised for his transformative contribution to diversity, inclusion, and community development within the sport of golf through the founding of Black British Golfers (BBG).
In a sport traditionally perceived as exclusive and lacking diversity, Ray has emerged as a pioneering force committed to reshaping access, representation, and belonging. What began as a social media initiative designed to highlight the untold stories and experiences of Black golfers in the United Kingdom has evolved into a growing national movement championing inclusivity within the game.
Under Ray’s leadership, Black British Golfers has created a platform that not only celebrates Black participation in golf but also actively encourages wider engagement through community schemes, networking opportunities, developmental initiatives, and annual events. Through these efforts, BBG has demonstrated the growing demand for a more welcoming and representative golfing culture.
Known to many as “Coach Ray,” he has consistently used golf as more than a sport. His vision positions golf as a vehicle for confidence-building, mentorship, personal growth, and meaningful community connection. His work continues to inspire individuals from underrepresented backgrounds to see golf as a space where they can participate, thrive, and belong.
Ray’s impact extends beyond changing perceptions of the sport. Through advocacy, visibility, and community engagement, he is helping redefine what modern golf can represent—an inclusive environment where opportunity, connection, and diversity are embraced and celebrated.
