Weekly update on the painting process of this project.

This week, I began fully rendering the painting, taking it a step further from the underpainting stage. The more time I spend on this piece, the more I realise that the title of this work has to be ‘IBADAT’.

In the Ismaili tradition, Ibadat goes beyond ritual prayer. It reflects devotion, remembrance, spiritual discipline, and a lifelong state of connection with the Divine. It is about living with intention, balance, reflection, and sincerity in both the spiritual and worldly aspects of life.

I believe everyone has their own form of Ibadat. For some, it may exist through prayer and meditation. For others, through art, discipline, love, patience, service, or the quiet act of dedicating yourself fully to something greater than yourself.

The more I paint this work, the more I feel it speaks about that personal relationship between devotion and identity.

I’m hoping to complete this painting by the end of June for an art exhibition, and I’m also thinking of developing this into a series of paintings under the project title ‘IBADAT’.

Stay tuned for the weekly progress updates on this journey.

Halfway through this painting — with around two more months left before completion.

At the moment, it is still in the underpainting / ébauche stage: the phase where the main colours, values, and structural shapes are carefully established before the finer rendering begins.

This stage is less about detail and more about building the foundation, atmosphere, and rhythm of the painting. Hopefully from next week onwards, the final rendering process will begin — slowly bringing the textures, depth, and character fully to life. ✨🎨

Stay tuned for weekly updates as this painting gradually evolves through each stage. And if you have any questions about how I approached the composition, feel free to DM me.

Do you remember the first work of art you ever bought?

Not a poster. Not something from a big, generic store. Something that felt like "real" art to you.

It usually signals a shift. If you haven't had that experience, I'd be honored to help. My DMs are always open to discuss my work.

Earth Day is a good time to think about how we consume, and art is part of the conversation.

Investing in something made with care, designed to last, and tied to a specific practice is a great way to engage in mindful consumption. My work is made to last.

"Life & Death" is that kind of work. Happy Earth Day!

There is a reason people often buy art during transitions. A new home. A new chapter. The end of something or the beginning of something else.

Art has always served as a personal marker, a way of saying, "This is where I was when I chose this." Your collection of wall art sort of becomes your biography.

What chapter are you in right now?

Would "Women Statue" be a good fit?

World Art Day exists because someone decided that art, as a living practice, deserved a day of recognition.

"Lady" is part of that practice.

For an independent artist, it's a moment to reflect on what it all means and say thank you.

That's why I'm offering 25% off with code ARTDAY26.

5 things I’d tell my little self
who just wanted to be an artist…🕊️

1. This will be a long, lonely journey —
and that’s okay. 🤍
Not everyone will understand what you’re building.

2. Showing your work will feel uncomfortable.
It will feel exposing.
Do it anyway. ✨
That’s how your art finds people.

3. You’ll compare yourself constantly.
Artists better than you. Faster than you.
More “successful” than you.
Stop.
Be kind to yourself 🙏🏻

4. Most of your growth will happen
when nothing is working.
When everything feels off.
Sit through it, listen to your intuition 🧘🏻‍♀️
That’s where you actually
improve.

5. No one is coming to push you.
No perfect moment.
No constant motivation.
Just you — and your discipline. 🔥
Show up anyway.

Being an artist isn’t just about talent.
It’s about staying when things feel quiet,
slow, and uncertain. 🌙

If you’re still going — keep going. 🤍

World Art Day is a moment to acknowledge that making and collecting art is not a luxury reserved for institutions. It belongs to everyone.

A question worth sitting with today: what is the first work of art you remember truly stopping in front of? Not the most famous. Not the most expensive. The one that made you feel something before you had the language to explain it.

I'd genuinely like to know. Share it below.

"Lady" is part of a collection of work made for moments like that one.

Most people change their wardrobes with the season. Very few think to do the same with their walls.

Spring is actually one of the best moments to reassess what you are living with, not to redecorate constantly, but to ask whether the work on your walls still reflects who you are right now. Art is not furniture. It should evolve with you.

If you have been waiting for a reason to make a change, here's your permission slip.

"Ram Sheep" is part of a growing collection.
