Red flags your piercer is cutting corners 🚩

If you see any of these signs — walk out.

❌ They're using a piercing gun
Guns can't be fully sterilised. They cause blunt force trauma to your tissue. No reputable studio uses them. Ever.

❌ They're selling you "surgical steel"
Unregulated marketing term. It can contain nickel, cause reactions, and delay healing. Implant-grade titanium only.

❌ No gloves. No sterile field.
Your piercer isn't gloving up and working from a sterile setup? They're introducing bacteria directly into an open wound. Non-negotiable.

❌ The jewellery looks cheap or mirror-polished
Mystery-metal jewellery is a healing nightmare. If they can't tell you exactly what it's made of — that's your answer.

❌ No consultation. No placement discussion.
A good piercer assesses your anatomy before picking up a needle. If they're rushing you straight to the chair, your result will show it.

Swipe through the most common culprits: wrong jewellery material, wrong gauge, lifestyle habits, and changing too soon. Any one of these can keep a piercing stuck in a loop of irritation.

The good news? Most of them are fixable. Book a check-in and we'll assess what's going on — sometimes one swap is all it takes.
