📙 Reading 'The Food of Singapore Malays' does make me feel hungry. Whenever I miss home or Malay food, I'll visit a list of my go-to food places in London.

The restaurants below are owned by Malaysians 🇲🇾, Singaporeans 🇸🇬 and Indonesians 🇮🇩 - that makes up some of the Malay Archipelago.
🔹Melur x - Nasi Kandar
White rice combined with an array of distinct curries, sides dishes, and gravies. The selection of curries consists of various blends of vegetables, seafood or meat. I recommend to pair it with Bandung (rose syrup milk)

🔹 - White Rice with Rendang Daging (beef slow cooked in coconut milk with spices & herbs), and Ayam Goreng Bawang Putih, (garlic fried chicken) paired with Teh 'O', Black Tea with no sugar - You're in heaven.

🔹 - Go for their BBQ platter for 2 The Satay reminds me of the East Coast Lagoon in Singapore. They also have Tiger Prawns and Chicken Wings.

🔹 - sells the best Char Kway Teow. A stir fried flat rice noodles with spices, soy sauce, vegetables and meat. Normally you pair it with a fried egg on top, known as mata lembu.

🔹During lockdown, I discovered Kuali Kak Ani (who is now at and her nasi minyak (ghee rice) with ayam masak merah (red chilli sauce with chicken) is to DIE FOR! She also sells malay kuehs (cakes) like Seri Muka, Ketayap and curry puffs

🔹Now speaking of puffs, this might not be Malay Food in general, but every Singaporean grew up with Old Chang Kee. It's a staple food when you're in a rush to go to work or school. I always had their sardine curry puffs, so I got way excited when is now selling sardine curry puffs - check them out. (📸 from their IG)
There are SO MANY MORE AMAZING MALAY FOOD IN LONDON, here's more of my favourite. Give them a follow this new year ❤️
