We've waxed lyrical many times about the quality of Felipe Gordon's productions, highlighting the Bogota-based producer's abilities to blend live jazz-funk and Latin instrumentation with dusty deep house grooves and carefully curated samples. Predictably, the Colombian's second outing on GAMM is another cracker. Gordon heads straight for sun-soaked dancefloors on A-side 'If You Get Lonely', a wonderfully organic and effortlessly groovy chunk of warming and rolling deep house piled high with funky bass guitar, alien synth melodies, toasty electric piano licks and his own eyes-closed lead vocals. Over on side B, he first blends Afro-house, salsa and tropical house (the fittingly named 'African Carter') before wrapping sampled horns and pianos around a deep, dusty Latin house groove on the excellent 'Abstract Equatorial'.

Anyone lucky enough to have ventured over to Crystal Palace Triangle on a Monday circa 2019 would have been luckier still to discover Palace Vinyl, a dedicated dance-music-on-vinyl emporium, still horribly underrated as far as London record shop history books go. Though they're probably best known to most as a Discogs shop, luck would have it that they're now based in Brixton village, and are carrying on strong with their relatively fresh label efforts, sublabelled Brixton Row. This third release is is a far-reaching, transatlantic pairing: US tech house veteran Adam Collins (one half of Omni AM) alongside Floridian firestarter Torin Lawson. It's a structurally even-handed one, its intent made clear with a breakbeat track on each side, each complemented by a straighter 4x4 cut. We can't make sense of 'She's Radicchio', but it's the choice selection here: "this music is about being real..."

Shyrka's appearance on Droogs is a masterclass in the fundamentals with four tracks that wear their influences proudly without ever becoming slavish to what has come before. Opener 'Cross' dives deep and rarely surfaces, rewiring classic shapes in murky bass underworlds. The title track is a rhythm slasher with steely-plated drums and growing low end menace, then 'Ouroboros' cranks the pressure to new levels without ever veering too far from meticulously programmed breaks. It has a schizophrenic panic to it in the scratchy textures and vocals that bleed in and out, then 'Restless Minds' closes things out with the sort of rhythm that gets you dropping your shoulder and fully locked in to each and every bump.

It's got to be one of the biggest. Dominating Discogs lists and peak-time trance mix moments the world over, Age Of Love's self-titled dark trance monster is considered one of the genre's foundation stones, emerging when Italian producers Bruno Sanchioni and Giuseppe Chierchia came together at the Diki studio in Mouscron, Belgium. Recorded far before the genre's early 90s explosion, it was a sleeper - as tends to be the way with unlikely pioneerings of the sort - until its later helping-along by Jam & Spoon's 'Watch Out For Stella' remix, which is also included on this reissue set. The same also houses two remixes by three present-day keepers of the continuum - Solomun, and Charlotte De Witte/Enrico Sanguilano - so it spans the full range of modern trance gloss to raw originals. All of the above bring nunlike vocals, brooding "come on"s, and of course that central, wicked nicking bassline.

Astonishingly, 25 years have now passed since French duo Shakedown unleashed what would become an all-time nu-disco/disco-house anthem, the infectious and now ubiquitous 'At Night'. To mark the occasion, Defected has reissued it, pairing first-wave 2000s mixes (the original, acapella and Kid Creme's hard-wired French Touch take) with two brand-new, high profile takes. Purple Disco Machine kicks off the EP, teasing in the action via vocal loops and sustained organs before unleashing his usual high-grade blend of disco-house and nostalgic nu-disco. South Korean mega-star Peggy Gou then takes over, delivering an 'acid journey' rework full of TB-303 trickery, jaunty stabs, fizzing nu-disco electronics and jacking, Chicago style drums.

In the words of Armada Music: give trance a chance. Armin Van Buuren's 'Communication' was recorded in 1999 at his parents' house in Leiden, Germany, and carries the essence of relaxation about it, its dreamy piano lines and smooth, separatory production earning it a release on Cyber Records and a number-18 spot on the UK singles chart the following year. Now it's reissued here on Armada's ASOT Classics Series, alongside the Thrillseekers' colour-seeing 'Synaesthesia', aka Steve Helstrip's Neo Records milestone, a significant flag for the British ends of the trance genre. Then finally, Stuart Langelaan's 'Drifting Away' with vocalist Skye, first 2002.

London's Jim Sharp slips into his Jaime Filoso alias and has a bit of fun with it. You can hear him grinning through the edits. These are neighbourhood flips, close to the source, not trying to hide what they are. 'Nuyorican Funk' leans on that now-very-recognisable Salsa break - yes, the one the bunny got hold of - but leaves the vocal sitting right where it was, almost stubbornly. It shouldn't quite work, but it does, mostly on nerve. 'Be La Soul' eases things out. Slower, warmer, built around that familiar d&b guitar line, stretched into something softer. It feels like a comedown version of the A side, less punchy, more knowing.

While JKriv's cannily crafted reworks have continued to appear on different imprints, it is 11 years since he's released a batch of them on the label he co-founded, Razor-N-Tape. This belated sequel to his 2015 EP is therefore long overdue. The storied New York producer hits the ground running with 'I Feel Amor', a typically on-point re-cut of a throbbing, Spanish language cover of Donna Summer's 'I Feel Love', before joining the dots between acid house, MK-style mid-90s garage-house bump and warehouse-ready heaviness on 'Love Dub'. The vintage house feel continues on flipside opener 'Cuando Bailo', a confirmed party-starter build around rubbery synth-bass, restless cowbells, turn-of-the-90s house breaks and some unlikely (but inspired) vocal samples, while 'Dance Sexy' sees him successfully tweak an acid-splashed late 90s workout.
