When every vacant space and place available across the LB Hacknry is being considered as a potential income generation trading area to host food, arts, crafts, fashion, flower and other entrepreneurial enterprises, WELL STREET MARKET E9, seemed to be deemed surplus to requirement, unnecessary, unfeasible, uneconomic, non viable WHY?
We know the tale about TfL, The 425 Bus, paid for Road closures etc, But the same seems to not apply to Chatsworth Road, Why?
Hackney Council seems determined to keep the historic retail area know as WELL STREET MARKET off the boroughs agenda.
At the moment WELL STREET MARKET is a dedicated car park.
All ideas, initiative and pilot market ideas appear to be off the discussion table, but why?
In this era of imposed Covid, this lockdown should be viewed and used as a opportunity for relevant Council departments and Officers to sit around a table with shopkeepers to get creative not restrictive.
Well Street Traders Alliance and residents are seeking a meetings with the Council Officers and Ward Councillors to plot the regeneration of WELL STREET MARKET.
The Traders Alliance have investigated the viability of 2 initial once a month specialist markets.
Traders, Residents, young people and specialist retailers want the opportunity to regenerate WELL STREET MARKET. We can increase footfall, as well as income generation for the Council, Shops and Traders involved; But it needs to be undertaken in partnership with creative enterprising borough Officers and Councillors.

The most important question being raised along Well Street is when will our local family business the Kebab store Nazer re-open. After suffering a flash flood a year ago or more, this business has been fight with Thames water to fix a rain water channel in their basement, but Thame water are refusing to address this matter.
There must be insurance cover for these events Thames water, the Landlords or Nazer.

Well Street Alliance ask that Meg Hillier our MP, Hackney Council and our local Council get seriously involved in resolving this matter.
