CASTING + CREW CALL – THIS GIRL
We're casting and building our creative team for this musical about Cynthia Lennon, the woman behind the legend. This musical is returning to Liverpool after previous sold out shows.

🎭 CASTING 🎭

Roles available:

Cynthia (Young) – Female, playing age 17–25
Prepare a monologue and a song. Must be able to follow choreography.

Cynthia (Old) – Female, playing age 40+
Prepare a monologue and a song. Must be able to follow choreography.

Stuart Sutcliffe – Male, singer/guitarist, playing age 18–25
Prepare a short monologue and a song (self-accompanied on guitar).

Aunt Mimi– Female, playing age 40+
Prepare a 2-minute monologue.

Musical Theatre Performers – 6–8 singers/dancers, any gender
Prepare a number including singing and dancing.

This is a profit share production featuring original songs including "Mother Mary" by Julian Lennon.

CASTING CALL – LIVERPOOL PERFORMERS WANTED 🎭🎶

We're casting for "This Girl – The Cynthia Lennon Story" – a sell-out original musical returning to the stage at Capstone Theatre, Liverpool in May 2026.

We always talk about him. This time, the spotlight is on her.

This powerful musical tells the story of Cynthia Lennon and how she met John – featuring all original songs, including 'Mother Mary' by Julian Lennon. Previously performed to packed houses in Liverpool and London.

Roles available:
🎸 Stuart Sutcliffe – singer & guitarist, male, playing age 18-25
🎤 Musical theatre singers & dancers – male/female, 6-8 roles
🎬 Aunt Mimi – female, playing age 40+

Key dates:
📅 Auditions: Early February
📅 Rehearsals: April onwards @ Hope Street University
📅 Performances: 29th & 30th May 2026

Playwriter Mike Howl spent years researching Cynthia's life through face-to-face interviews with her closest friends - including survivors of the very classroom where Cynthia and John first met at Liverpool Art College.

Much of the play is told through the eyes and ears of the people who knew her best, revealing previously unknown and unpublished material.

This is Cynthia's real story, authentically told.

'This Girl' tells the story of Cynthia Powell - a shy student from Hoylake on The Wirral, who fell in love with a young musician called John Lennon when they met at Liverpool Art College in 1957.

She became Cynthia Lennon, his wife, and mother of their son, Julian.

For years, Cynthia's story has been overshadowed. Now, it's time for her voice to be heard.
