This changed how I play live…

Over time I realized live guitar isn’t about perfection — it’s about intention. You can hit every note right, but if there’s no emotion behind it, nobody remembers. That night at Rough Trade, I stopped thinking technically and just played the songs like stories. And when you do that, the guitar parts breathe more. They become alive. That’s when audiences really connect.

Your guitar isn’t singing enough…

For me, guitar has always been about melody first. Tone is important, gear is important — but if the part doesn’t feel like it’s singing, it won’t connect. At Rough Trade, I really focused on playing the hooks like a vocal line — with phrasing, dynamics, and emotion. And I think people feel that subconsciously. A great guitar part isn’t just heard… it’s felt. That’s always the goal when we play live.

We’re doing this again soon…

Because the vinyl sold out and the night meant so much, we’re already planning another special release event. Something intimate, memorable — more than just a concert. Those are the nights that stay with people, and that’s what we want to create more of moving forward.

I was more nervous than usual…

Even after years of performing, some shows still hit your nerves. This was one of them because it mattered more emotionally. But once the first song started, that nervous energy turned into adrenaline. By the end, we didn’t want to walk off stage.

The energy shocked all of us…

The audience wasn’t just watching — they were listening. Singing along, leaning forward, reacting to the dynamics. That kind of attention changes how you perform. You open up more. You take emotional risks. And suddenly the show becomes a shared experience instead of just a performance. That Liverpool crowd gave us that gift.

Most bands ignore this one thing…

A lot of bands focus on volume or energy, but we focus on melody — especially guitar melody. When we write, we’re always asking: what’s the moment someone will remember tomorrow? That’s usually the hook. It might be simple… but simple is powerful when it’s honest. At Rough Trade, those melodies really connected with the room, and you could feel people locking into them. That’s when you know a song is working.

This venue means everything to musicians…

Playing Rough Trade carries history. So many artists we admire stood in that same space. When you’re there, you’re aware you’re part of something bigger than yourself, even if just for one night. It’s humbling. It makes you want to give absolutely everything you’ve got — and that’s what we tried to do.

This is what people remember most…

One thing people kept coming up to us about after the show was the guitar hooks. And that means everything to me, because hooks are the emotional fingerprint of a song. Anyone can play chords… but a melody that sticks in your head? That’s magic. We’ve always believed guitar should sing — almost like another vocalist in the band. And hearing people hum those parts back to us after the set… that’s one of the best feelings you can have as a songwriter.

We ran out of vinyl instantly…

We brought vinyl for the show and it completely sold out — way faster than we expected. And then our manufacturer ran out too. Which is a beautiful problem to have, but also stressful when fans want records and you literally don’t have them. But honestly, it showed us how much people care about physical music. Holding something real still matters. That’s why we’re planning another vinyl release night soon — because that demand deserves another experience. We almost didn’t make this show…

Last fall we were invited to play Rough Trade in Liverpool, and honestly it felt surreal. That’s one of those legendary spaces you hear about your whole life as a musician. Walking in, seeing the records on the walls, the crowd forming — it hit me that this was a real milestone for us. Nights like that remind you why you start a band. Not for algorithms… not for hype… but for real human connection in a room with music happening live. That night was one of those moments I’ll always carry with me.

“We’re coming back to where so many memories began — our hometown. Join us for one special night at Sugarmill Saloon on Friday, March 6th. Doors at 8, show at 9. — The Falling Doves”

We weren’t alone that night…

Sharing the stage with other great bands made the night even stronger. Live music is community — not competition. Everyone brought their own sound and together it created something bigger than any one act. We’re really grateful to every artist who played with us.
