R and b time started out as a radio show on Iwfm radio in Liverpool .My old friend Mike Badger had been hosting a show playing anything from rockabilly to bluegrass and country boppers on IWFM .When I met him at a reunion of old friends I complimented him on the show and instead of saying thanks he blurted out “you should do a show” .Ever the generous spirit .I loved the idea . The idea of the sho
w was to play great underplayed soul music and invite a guest each month to spin some of their favourite tunes .The first guest was Jordan Wilson a well known northern soul DJ and all round good chap . On my second show the guest cancelled and it just wasn’t the same vibe .On the third show my guest Was David Callister and the rest is history .Cally and I are brothers from another mother .We enjoy such a wide range of soul music from the roots of blues and jazz up to 70’s crossover .Basically if it’s good enough it will get played . Soul music and record collecting have been a life long passion for Cally and I .The joy of the genre is that it covers many styles of music and there was just so many records released in the US which is where most of the music originates .Plus adding a little soul influenced garage you have a seemingly never ending stack of new tunes to dig through .Whilst collecting can be an expensive hobby we play music to suit all pockets and concentrate on quality rather than rarity .Enjoy the shows !
